MARIE YOUNG (nee GALLANT) April 23, 1931 January 17, 2017 It is with deep regret that we announce Marie's peaceful passing on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 85 years. She was an active resident of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts. Remaining to cherish Marie's memory are her six children, Lee (Debbie), John (Andrea), Lynn (Randy), Shawn (Linda), Kevin, Karen (Mike); her brother Alyre (Mary) and sister-in-law Teresa. She was a generous, proud and happy grandmother to 14 cherished grandchildren, Megan, David, Jennifer, Michael, Cody, Charles, Jason, Kailyn, Robyn, Carter, Bradley, Robert, Steven and Michelle; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Khloe, Lilianna and Nixon. Marie was a dedicated, fun-loving and attentive friend to so many countless cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, all with whom she maintained contact and friendship over her lifetime. She was predeceased by her husband, Jeffery; parents Justine and Belonie; brother Henry; sister-in-law Mary and daughter-in-law Mary. Marie was a loyal partner to Jeffery and supported his military career she was an expert at relocating! Everywhere she went, Marie created great memories, a loving home and made friendships that lasted her lifetime. Her memory was truly remarkable she never forgot a name and could recount (in detail) the family adventures. Hailing from Summerside, PEI, Marie knew how to have the BEST kitchen party, play cards, sing and dance always surrounded by family. She was a traveller at heart and until recently, spent her winters in Arizona. Every summer, Marie went back to Summerside to visit her family and when her oldest son Lee moved to Surrey, BC, off she went every year to visit. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins, presiding. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • We have wonderful memories of your Mom and Dad and their generosity. They picked us up at the Phoenix airport on our winter holidays, hosted us and our children and took us shopping and sight-seeing. We enjoyed their company and your Mom's "joie de vivre". There was always much laughter and fun. I am sure that you will miss her very much. Glenn and Annette Young - Posted by: Glenn and Annette Young (cousins ) on: Jan 29, 2017

  • Karen, Shawn and Kevin. You have my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother. She was always a lot of fun and I remember her always having a drink with us at your parties in St James. She always had a kind word for all the kids that hang out. I know you will miss her greatly. Mother's are especially hard to loss. Take care. - Posted by: Pamela Weseljak (Bohn) (Friend to children) on: Jan 23, 2017

  • We have so many wonderful memories of your mom and how she took to country living! She and Jeff were a wonderful support to Bill and I on the farm. So many laughs and good times. They were the first to show us the great retirement life of Arizona and were so warm and generous in their hospitality. Gone but never forgotten! Love to all, Bill and Wendy - Posted by: Bill Wendy Young (Friends and Family) on: Jan 23, 2017
