LLOYD GLADU Lloyd passed peacefully, with his daughter Anita by his side, listening to country music. Born in Bai, St. Paul his family lived in Reaburn, Manitoba until he was seventeen and moved to the town of Storthoaks, Saskatchewan. This is where he met Louise Paradis whom he married. Moving back to Manitoba they settled in Brooklands in Winnipeg. Together they had five children. Rhea our "big sister", then Ron, Fran, Anita, then Maurice. Louse passed in 1982 and is still greatly missed by all who knew her. He met his loving companion Rhona some time after that. She has the loving kindness that sustained him right to the end. She was always gramma to Lloyd's grandkids, Gerry, Michelle, Nathan, Sarah and Daniel and his great-grandkids, Sarah. Ben, Suzzana Cory and Kailee. He retired to Reaburn the place of his birth and spent an incredibly happy life there with his dogs, chickens, pheasants and rabbits. He always kept a garden and kept us all well fed. Lloyd loved his country music and was an avid player right to the end playing his guitar for the other guests at the care center. Many of us remember the jam sessions he and his cousins Leonard, Ernie and his dad Alf on fiddle along with a miriad of other people playing and singing until daybreak. Lloyd was a passionate hunter all his life. With his sons, Ron and Maurice, brother-in- law Bruce and cousin Ernie he spent many a fall morning duck and goose hunting. Later in the year it was deer hunting with fishing in the spring. Dad never wanted any kind of service at all and anyone who knew him would understand that basic no-frills approach he had, so we will inter his ashes beside Louise when the snow goes but will also be scattering some of his ashes in Reaburn, the place he loved so much. Perhaps on that one day that prairie people know so well, when winter finally breaks it's bones and the geese are flying north once again and when the first robin appears.

Thanks to Lloyd, I was able to piece things of our family history together. He kept great photos of my relatives. My grandmother was Suzanne Gladu, his sister. He knew my grandfather, Patrick Sr. and my uncle Aimee, that passed at age 27 in the RCAF. He knew my mom, Irene and her sisters. I am sorry I didn't know or meet him when I was younger, but I am richer for knowing him later in life and he can rest with all the other Metis families from the long lost times. It will never be the same again. Gone are the bison and historical families but not the memories. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Patrick B. Monette (cousin) on: Feb 04, 2017

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Lloyd. My deepest condolences to the family. I recall the many, many visits that my late husband, Len, and I had with Lloyd, both at his home in Winnipeg and then at his home in Raeburn - the hours spent listening to Lloyd's musical talents, having a wonderful meal with him and, yes, raiding his garden. He will be missed by all who knew him and he called a friend. I had the pleasure of knowing Louise, who passed all too young, and the wonderful times over the years spent with Rhona. Lloyd is at peace now. May God watch over him and those he leaves behind. - Posted by: Joey LaVallee (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2017
