Kirkby on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the age of 86 years. Left to mourn Hazel are her daughter Colleen (d. Ray Marchak); sons, Bruce and Ian (Susan); sister-in-law Lee Kilfoyle (nee Kirkby); brother-in-law Harry Kirkby; cousin Lorrain (Allan Trudeau); grandchildren, Tyler Marchak and Andrew and Nicholas Welch; nieces and nephews and their families; as well as her close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Kirkby; parents, Roy and Ella Kilfoyle; brother Harris Kilfoyle; sister Helen Ferguson (nee Kilfoyle) and brother-in-law John Ferguson. Hazel was born in Wawanesa, Manitoba and lived most of her young life in the Swan River/Bowsman area. She moved to Winnipeg and worked at Eaton's for five years. Hazel loved spending time with family and friends. Among her pursuits were knitting and needle work. In compliance with Hazel's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Our family would like to extend a thank-you to the nurses and staff at the Poseidon Care Centre. They treated Hazel with love and respect and we will not forget that. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hazel's memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or to a charity of your choice.
