NOELLIA DESHARNAIS (née DESROSIERS) December 25, 1937- January 20, 2017 After a lengthy illness, Noëllia Desharnais passed away peacefully at Valade Personal Care Home on January 20, 2017, surrounded by her family and close friends. She is survived by her loving husband Gérard and sons Marc (Bonny) and Norman, her grandchildren Raymond, (Samantha) Christine, Jamie, Julie, Danielle and Sylvie. Noëllia was predeceased by her brother Rosaire (Alice), and Sister Orise. Her eldest son Guy preceded her into heaven on April 1, 1977. She is survived by her siblings Sister Rita, René, Germain (Carmelle), and Anna. Noëllia was born in Ste Anne, Manitoba on Christmas Day 1937. Her parents were Magloire Desrosiers and Desneiges St. Laurent. At the tender age of two years, Noëllia lost her mom after a medical operation. Her sister Orise, aged 14 at the time, quit school and acted as the mother for the grieving family. Orise took loving care of her young sister. Noëllia graduated from Ste Anne High School and at age 17 was asked to teach on permit to some 38 students in grade 1 and 2 at Camperville, MB. It was then in near-by Duck Bay that she met a freckled young man who was a teacher there. It was love and admiration at first sight! They were married on August 21, 1956. In 1963 the family moved to Transcona, MB, and lived there for 48 years. A loving and caring wife and mother, Noëllia took good care of her three sons and husband. When the kids were all in school, she found employment at St. Amant where she worked for 25 years and became fast friends with co-workers. Noëllia was very involved in the Parish of Notre Dame de l'Assomption where she volunteered to work with the scouts, Louveteaux, Ladies Auxiliaries, reading epistles and even serving mass with her husband. Compassionate friends had a very active member named Noëllia. She enjoyed travelling, visiting with family, playing cards, ceramics, crocheting. She crocheted all the little suits for the baptism of her grandchildren. She loved entertaining friends and family. Many thanks to the nurses and staff of Actionmarguerite (St. Vital) for their kind and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 28 at Précieux Sang Catholic Church, 200 Kenny Street, Winnipeg. She had a heart of gold! Au revoir au ciel! The many times that she came to our prayer group, she was truly a special blessing to the group. I also fondly remember the good times we had when we went to sing at your the Desrosiers family gatherings.
