DONALD J. BEATON Passed away peacefully, with his wife Fritze, of 30 years, by his side, on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 83. He will be missed by his brother Bill of Canmore; sister Margaret Lee of Mississauga; nephews Billie and Jim Beaton and Robert Lee of Ontario, as well as many wonderful friends in Winnipeg, Kelowna and Florida. Don was born in Winnipeg and resided there until his retirement. He was in the glass business for most of his life and had made many good friends through his work. Many wonderful summers were spent in Clearwater Bay and winters in Punta Gorda, Florida. In 2003, he moved to Kelowna where he enjoyed the milder winters. He was able to enjoy many cruises and winter vacations in Palm Springs. Unfortunately he suffered from many illnesses and was very restricted in his activities during his last few years. The family wish to thank the caring staff in the emergency unit and on 3 East at Kelowna General Hospital. They made Don's last few hours as comfortable as possible. The family would also like to thank Dr. H. N. Reeves who treated Don's COPD for many years and cared so deeply. We will forever miss his smile and many stories of his life before AA - of which he was a proud member for 28 years. At his request, there will be no service. Interment has taken place in Kelowna. His wish was to be buried next to his father in the family plot in Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, however sadly that was not to be. • Fritze, I am so sorry to hear of Don`s passing. Don was my employer for many years and it was always a pleasure working for him. I think of him often. Fritze, you are in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Geri Meissner (worked for Don) on: Apr 04, 2017

  • This is a sad day for all those who knew Don. We had a great friendship here in Winnipeg and the friendship continued by telephone following Don and Fritze's move to Kelowna. Don and I did a huge amount of business in the 70s,80s, and into the early 90s. I always found Don to be a straight shooter in all of our business dealings. I will miss our telephone conversations and the sound of his voice. May God Bless Don, Fritze and all those close to him. Sincerely Bob, Irene Cunningham and Family - Posted by: R. W.
