GAIL SUSAN SMAKULA Peacefully with her husband and son by her side, Gail passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the age of 56 years, with strength, courage and dignity - and on her terms. Remaining to cherish Gail's memory are her husband Allan; son Darren; siblings, Gordon (Marlene), Ken (Marilyn) and Linda (Andy); sister-in-law Dale; as well as nephews and nieces, Michael (Tiffany and children, Garrick, Ryker and Tucker), Carolyn (and children, Jazzlyn and Melody-Lynn), Kathryn, Nicole, Ken Jr., David, Brian (Joanna and children, Tyler and Nolan); Angela (Jesse) and Kelly (Brian). She was predeceased by her father and mother; sister Marlene; her parents-in-law, Mike and Ella Smakula; as well as her dogs, Kurt and Nik. On March 25, 1960, Gail was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents, Lionel and Agatha Kerr. Gail was raised, lived and worked her entire life in Winnipeg. Her son Darren was a huge part of her life. In 1991, Gail wed her husband Allan, with whom she enjoyed 25 plus years of marriage, sharing joy and life experiences, time with family and travel in particular, the trip of a lifetime to Alaska last September to mark their anniversary. Gail loved Christmas, decorating the house, "deals", animals, her family and her home. She had a huge heart always putting others first a zest for life and was genuinely a good person. In compliance with Gail's wishes, a private family Graveside Service has been held. Gail's family would like to thank the caring staff of A4 at Health Sciences Centre.
