His pain is now gone. John was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; his mother Agnes; his father George; his niece Wendy Hanchuk; his nephew Greg Hanchuk and his sister Elizabeth Seguin. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his partner of many years Helen Lisoway; her daughters, Jennifer Cairns (Don), Susan Lisoway (Stewart Hayek); and her grandchildren, Robert, Melanie, Michael, Gillian and Austin; his brother Steve (Jerrie) and his nieces and nephews Theresa Hanchuk, Mike Hanchuk (Suzanne), Rhonda Hamans (Trevor), Edward Lothman and Katie Wawryk. John was born in Gypsumville, Manitoba and attended Norquay Jr. High School and St. John's Technical High School. He was employed as a machinist by CNR for many years and left to attain a degree in Pedagogy after which he taught at Lord Selkirk Comprehensive School. He retired from teaching to spend many summers at his cabin at Falcon Lake with his partner Helen. At his request, cremation has taken place, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. A special thank you to Drs Pilat, Pozeg and Charnecki for their care throughout the years and to the staff at St Boniface Hospital. John had the gift of kindness and compassion for others which we will always cherish. The memories of happy times with John will remain with us forever. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity on one's choice.

I am so sorry to hear. Wanted to run into him again. Was a mentor of mine going through school. Best teacher ever. - Posted by: Barry Bryk (Student) on: Mar 27, 2020
