WINIFRED HAY February 22, 1919 - December 31, 2016 Peacefully, surrounded by family, Freddie died on New Year's Eve at Misericordia Place. She lived a long and full life. Freddie was born at Healeycote, Northumberland, United Kingdom. She graduated from The Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle qualifying as a State Registered Nurse (S.R.N.). She continued with her studies and qualified as an Operating Room Nurse and as a Midwife (Sunderland). In 1956 the Hay family immigrated to Canada, living in Montreal for two years before making a home in Winnipeg. She was married for 70 years to Rankin Kilgour Hay M.B.B.S. (Durham), F.R.C.S. (England), F.R.C.S.C. who died in 2013. Freddie is survived by her children: Diana Scheffler (Immo); Angela Humphrey (Richard); R. Andrew Hay; grandchildren: Timothy Scheffler (Pamela); Alexandra Humphrey (Michael Sims); Meredith Humphrey (Kevin Evans); great-grandchildren: Kalani Scheffler; Kekai Scheffler; Katherine Sims; Rowan Evans. Freddie is survived by her sister Emily Richardson of Northumberland, U.K., her brother-in-law W. Ian Hay (Anne) of Victoria, British Columbia and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United Kingdom. Remember Remember me when I am gone away. Christina Rossetti (1830 - 1894) As previously announced, a Celebration of Winifred's Life was held on January 6, 2017 at St. George's Anglican Church Crescentwood. Cremation has taken place.
