Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ELLIOTT MCMURRICH Poppa passed away at the age of 79 Thursday with his family at his bedside in Winnipeg at Victoria General Hospital. John was predeceased by his wife Irene (Karasick). He is survived by his sister Brenda (Paul); son Bruce (Lisa); daughter Sara Block (Steven); son Jeff (Jackie) and Ken (Ramona), Vern (Debbie), Haderra (Mark), Vivian (Ken), Cliff ( Nancy); seven grandchildren, Michael Phillips (Ami), Wynter and Zenon Block, Brody, Tessa, Molly, and Brett McMurrich; great- grandchildren Kianna, Kingston, and Maximus Phillips and his first wife Hope McMurrich. As a young man John attended Upper Canada College, and he told his children stories of his time at the college and at the family cottage on Lake of Bays. The summer he spent at a ranch in Alberta developed a life long interest in farming and John subsequently made his career in the farm implements industry. John was an easy going man with a strong interest in world events. Both things made him a great man to talk to and discuss world events with. He enjoyed his family, his farm, his vehicles, music and talk radio and this past summer found joy in watching the Rio olympics. A cottage at Winnipeg Beach was important to John where there were many McMurrich family gatherings. John was a proud active member of AA with over 35 years sobriety. He will be missed by family and friends. Service will be Sunday 2:30 pm Shaarey Zedek Synagogue 561 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, MB, Canada R3M 0A6. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Our deepest condolences to your family from the Rosenberg's. John was an amazing husband to our mother and a joy to have in our family. He will be remembered by us to be a caring, loving man and very involved in all our family functions. We remember when my mom first met John. They were like two teenagers madly in love and they enjoyed a wonderful life together. They were fabulous square dancers. They enjoyed dancing so much. He will be fondly remembered for his soft spoken voice, his passionate love to everyone and all the good advice he passed on to our children. We are comforted by the fact that they will be united again, holding each other's hands, as they always did. You will be missed John, but forever remembered in our hearts. Viv, Ken, Jamey, Corey and Suzanne. - Posted by: Vivian and Ken Rosenberg children Jamey Corey and suzanne (Irene Karasick Mcmurrich's children and grandchildren) on: Jan 29, 2017

It is with deep sadness that we extend our condolences to the family. John was the first person we met when we bought our cabin at Winnipeg Beach. He was a great neighbour and quickly became a friend. We enjoyed our lively discussions on our deck. John was a great conversationalist, humorous, and very much the gentleman. We will miss him very much. Cliff and Linda - Posted by: Linda and Cliff Bishop (Neighbour and friend ) on: Jan 28, 2017
