Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRANDY WILLIAM DARBELL It is with such disbelief that we announce the sudden passing of Randy, on January 20, 2017. Randy is survived by his former wife and friend, Cathy and his lifelong friend Lynne. Randy was predeceased by his parents, William and Ollie; brother Allan; uncle John. Randy spent most of his life being a foundation contractor. He worked hard and played hard right until his last day. His greatest passion in life was fishing with his dog Max, whether it was winter or summer. He was in many fishing derbies and made lots of friends. Randy made friends very easily, everyone liked him. He was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. Anyone who made his acquaintance or was his friend were blessed to have him in their lives. I've just discovered today that Randy has passed. My mom lived near him on Margaret and my dogs and I would visit him and Max when I would walk them. One of my dogs is a also a tiny Pom like Max, and we would compare health stories and dog knee stories. He was such a kind soul and he loved Max so much. He would tell us about taking Max fishing and how they both couldn't wait to go. We also shared a few tears together when Randy told us of Max's passing. Rest in peace Randy and Max. So saddened to hear of the loss of such a gentle giant. I worked with Randy several years at CAA and this man gave the biggest warm hugs. I loved when he'd surprise us with a visit with his best friend Max and share treats with his little buddy. No one will ever play Santa like you did Randy. Heaven gained a angel - you will be missed. ❤️ - Posted by: Lee-Lee (Friend) on: Feb 01, 2017

I first met Randy when we went to High School together in grades 7, 8, 9. After that we lost contact because we went to different schools after grade 9. We met again in the early 90's when he applied as a term driver where I was working. He never liked to sit around when the ground got too hard to dig in for his contractor work. All the other drivers got to know him and was well liked by all. During the Xmas season he wore his Santa hat and if he had to work on Xmas day he wore the whole suit. We all knew him as (Santa). He had a kind and settling voice and a great laugh and a great sense of humor. I will miss his email jokes we traded. Rest well old friend and you will be missed. - Posted by: Rick (Old School Friend, and work buddy.) on: Jan 31, 2017

I've been friends and fishing partner with Randy for a number of years. There was never a man so big who had a heart even bigger than him. No man so big who could love a dog so small as much as he loved Max. He cried to me the day Max died and that took such a large bite out of him. My wife partnered with Randy in the cancer derby. When she died last year and others shared stories, Randy hung a new fishing lure on her kayak (memorial service), he couldn't talk without breaking up but, his gesture spoke of great feeling. When my dog peed in his open sneaker my life passed before my eyes, but the only roar l heard, was Randy belly laughing about it. A gentle giant for sure. I've lost a true friend and am shocked and saddened. I found out today of his passing, the same day I was going to call him to go fishing on Wednesday. If I go now, I will release the first fish I catch in honor of Randy. He will be at peace with his family whom he missed immensely. Every time we passed the cemetery on Main Street, Randy would cross himself and say a prayer to his brother, everytime without fail. Kathy and Lynn, if you read this, he loved you both and spoke highly of each of you. You were two mainstays in his life. I'm truly sorry for your loss. To Randy, I loved you as a true friend, and I know you, Nancy and Max are back together sharing a boat, sharing a laugh and sharing stories from the past. The Fire Fighter Derby will not be the same without you and you will be missed, but always remembered. Stay well and stay happy. Say hello to Nancy for me and give Max a pat for me. Til we fish again, your friend Ian. - Posted by: Ian campbell (Friend and fishing partner) on: Jan 30, 2017

Wow I'm totally shocked, I'm sitting here in Jamaica and didn't have a clue except an Email from a close friend. I hadn't seen Randy for a couple of years now but always considered him a close friend. We fished many times together and had lots of good times. He was known as the Bear by everyone at the FF Fishing Derby which he won a couple of times. I'll say a prayer for you Old Friend I know you had a true belief in God and you're with your family now. I'll see you again. Great fishing buddy. God Bless. - Posted by: kEN BARNETT (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2017
