Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Granny, you will be forever loved and missed. - Posted by: Leanne (Granddaughter) on: Feb 14, 2017

  • Jen was a powerful role model. Her strength, class, style, and wonderful sense of humor remained steadfast through joyous and troubled times. I will cherish the memories of family events with all six Cruikshank sisters. One can never forget their dazzling smiles and contagious laughter. RIP Aunt Jen - Posted by: Dale Harrington (Niece) on: Feb 08, 2017

  • My Granny (Jennifer Woolston) was the kind of person who was content simply being in the presence of her family. This is my Granny on her 92nd birthday, with her two Grandsons (myself and Jason), and Great Grandson Taylor. I remember this dinner well. Before we left, the owner of the restaurant came out and complimented my Granny on how great she looked for someone in their 90s! The things I remember most about my Granny are her unique sense of humour, and her devotion to politics as an activist for Women's rights, workers rights, and lots more. As my Aunt Marilyn put it, she "kept the politicians in check". R.I.P Jennifer Woolston "Granny" 1921-2017 - Posted by: Alec Woolston (Grandson) on: Feb 07, 2017

  • Jennifer Woolston’s social activism was truly inspiring. She, along with her twin sister Grace, fought for women’s rights, including the right to reproductive choice. She was involved with the Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties and Amnesty International. She served as a board member for the Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses. She successfully fought to keep lifeguards on at Winnipeg Beach. She held politicians to account through her eloquent letter writing. Mostly I will remember her as a warm, optimistic and humorous person that lived her life with dignity and grace. She will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Alison Ivey (niece) on: Feb 06, 2017

  • My mother Jennifer always enjoyed playing bridge with the Kiltarton bunch. In her final days at the hospital she woke up one day and said to my cousin Alison, "Did I lose at Bridge?" Alison replied, "No Auntie Jen, your record's intact." Jeff Carter: Thanks for your kind words. I never met Peggy but Mom often spoke of her. - Posted by: Neil Woolston (son) on: Feb 05, 2017

  • My Mom, Peggy Carter, played bridge with Jennifer at the Kiltarton Towers. They shared many good times together. As my Mom's dementia progressed, Jennifer continued to be very kind to her. Jennifer expressed interest in my Mom right to her death last September. Each time I called Jennifer to update her, she was so kind, pleasant and thoughtful. I did not know Jennifer well, but had the impression she was special. Mom very much enjoyed her friendship with Jennifer. My condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Jeff Carter (Son of Peggy, A friend of Jennifer Woolston) on: Feb 04, 2017
