KENNETH DAVID COOK September 15, 1930 - January 22, 2017 In loving memory of Ken, 86, who passed away peacefully at Oakview Place, surrounded by his family, after a prolonged struggle with dementia. Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean, son Brian (Winnipeg), daughter Sharon, grandsons, Andrew and Philip (Montreal), brother Jack (Bea) (Ottawa), sisters-in-law Beth (Winnipeg), Barb (Alberta), Jackie (Ted) (Manitoba), and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents John and Jeanie Cook brothers Bill, Hugh, Robbie, Doug, and Ian. Ken graduated from Kelvin High School and joined TCA in 1948. In 1965 with a corporate name change to Air Canada his career as machinist saw Ken and family relocate to Montreal. Retiring as a manager in 1987 Ken and Jean moved to British Columbia returning to Winnipeg in 1994. An enthusiast of all sports, golfing and curling into his 80s. Card games, movies and music, the annual Tin Town golf tournament were all pleasures enjoyed greatly. A founding member of the R&G Club, he and his family enjoyed many holidays at the White Lake facility. He observed all nature with a passion. An accomplished wood carver, Ken spent many hours creating numerous pieces. Proudly Canadian with a see Canada first ethic Ken and family visited all provinces and Yukon. Later Ken and Jean toured the USA missing only Alaska. Ken's ability to tell a story was well known. His many campfire tales of outdoor experiences and minor mishaps along the way will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Striving to live by The Golden Rule, Ken was considered a gentleman by co-workers friends and family. In keeping with Ken's wishes, a small, private service will be held. Donations to the Alzheimer (Dementia) Society of Canada would be appreciated.

  • We will miss Ken as we often enjoyed Jean and Ken's company and hospitality.
