MARIE MARGUERITE ELANOR ALPHONSINE (ELSIE) WINZOSKI Mrs. Marie Marguerite Elanor Alphonsine (Elsie) Winzoski (nee Beaulieu) joined her husband in Eternal Paradise on February 3, 2017 at age 94. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Winzoski; her parents Nazaire Beaulieu (of Ste. Valerian Quebec) and Eugenie Beaulieu (nee Langlois, of Argyle MN), sisters: Marguerite, Delia, Maria, Lucy, Alice, Yvonne, Irene, and Genie; and brothers: Emil, Arthur, Phillip, Edward, and Alphonse. She leaves behind her daughter Rose Peitsch, sons Arnold and Ken Winzoski, grandchildren Reed Winzoski, Jill, Olivia, Clint and Shannon Peitsch, Bobbi Jo Panciera, Trevor and Jason Winzoski, and great-grandchildren Damian, Ashley, Daria, Rachel, Rebecca, Riley and Caitlyn, and Alexa Merriam, including hundreds of nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and the United States. Born in Woodridge, Florze, Manitoba to a large French Roman Catholic family, Elsie (as she preferred) emerged from the raw Prairie Outback carving her into a strong, unique, compassionate, hard worker with an edge. Elsie would walk several kilometers to get to school by foot each day. She stopped working alongside of her father and sisters at wood cutting/pulping and the farm at age 20 and headed to Winnipeg. While working at the Fort Garry Hotel, she met the love of her life Joseph Winzoski. Shortly after, they began their family and relocated to Seddons Corner. They moved again after purchasing a home in Beausejour. With modest means, Elsie made the most of her garden while working as a sewing piece worker, Home Care, cook, reading cards and tea leaf reading (which, she was very well known for) to provide for her family and extended family. Elsie always took the time to teach those around her to read, sew, garden, and application of natural medicines in the environment. Elsie's amazing gardening and harvesting knowledge enabled her to can and share food with family, extended family and in her community. No one went hungry under her watchful eye. Harvesting berries, fish, herbs, tree bark, roots, moss and leaves were often spun into medicines healing animals that were lame and treating illnesses of those around her. Unfortunately the draw-back for the grandchildren harvesting were wood-ticks and mosquitoes; if they harmed a plant from improper harvesting, a screech by Elsie taught an unforgettable lesson. Free time to enjoy life always involved family, which were her greatest treasures. Often she went the extra mile for grandchildren and made them feel valued, loved, and made them a lot of beet rolls, which were legendary to any who had one (they are still on back-order). Elsie helped raise four generations. Elsie was extremely proud of all of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews for their celebrated successes in each one of their chosen professions. She always spoke of each with beaming pride and love, earning her the name "Grandma Bear". Elsie was strong willed, determined and had a kind, humble, forceful spirit. Elsie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 70 years in Brookside Cemetery. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, with reception to follow.
