EMIL MARTIN POMRENKE
Date of Passing: Feb 06, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMIL MARTIN POMRENKE 1923 - 2017 Emil Pomrenke passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Riverview Health Centre after a brief illness. He is lovingly remembered by his family: beloved wife Margaret; daughters Kathy and Marlene; son Mark and wife Huyen; grandchildren Jasmine, Aiden, and Ethan; sister Velma of Akron, Ohio; as well as many friends from near and far. Emil was born to August and Bertha Pomrenke near Emerson, Manitoba where he tended the farm which has been in the family for generations. He believed in participating in and giving back to the community. He served as a counsellor for the RM of Franklin and other community boards. In 1995 he travelled to Montreal to participate in a rally advocating for a unified Canada. He was an active member of Zion, Epiphany, and Joy Lutheran Churches. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Joy Lutheran Church, 2-50 Barnes St. Cremation has taken place. In June the ashes will be interred in the Friendensthal Cemetery. A very special thanks to the caregivers at Riverview Health Centre who took such loving care of him during the last few weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers friends, if they desire, may make donations to a charity of their choice. The following poem, author unknown, sums up what he meant to us. He never looked for praises, he was never one to boast, he just went on working, for the ones he loved the most. His dreams were seldom spoken, his wants were very few, and most of the time his worries, went unspoken too. He was there...a firm foundation, through all our storms of life, a sturdy hand to hold on to, in times of stress and strife. A father we could turn to, when times were good or bad, one of our greatest blessings, the man that we call Dad.

My grandmother was Emelia Zutz (Pomrenke). I would love to get in touch with someone in the family. Emil and Margaret came to the Zutz Reunion in 1995. Our American cousins came and visited them when we tried to find our grandfather's grave. He took us to see the church and told us the history of it. It was very kind of him. My condolences to Margaret and the family. Patflaws@gmail.com. - Posted by: Patricia Flaws (Distant cousin. ) on: Feb 15, 2017

Emil was a kind and generous man to all those who knew him. He welcomed me into his family many years ago and was unfailingly generous to me and my family especially my daughter Jasmine. His gentle good humour will be missed. - Posted by: Michel LeBlanc (Son-in-law) on: Feb 08, 2017
