Ken was a giant. He was a sportsman, a gentleman, a philanthropist and a mensch (fine human being). For longer than we want to remember, he was MR. YMHA dinner, hosting a planning their annual major fund raiser since the 1960's! He raised millions of dollars for a worthy cause. Most important of all, there are hundreds of young people who became athletes in Manitoba because they were inspired by the very best world sports figures he brought to Winnipeg for those dinners! I can see him in heaven, organizing the next Sportsmen's Dinner. Rest in peace Ken, you have earned it! This year's dinner will not be the same without him!! - Posted by: Abe Anhang (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2017

The devotion Kenny showed for Johanna was an inspiration to everyone who knew them. RIP, Sir. Will miss talking sports together. Rae and Jerry's has lost one of its best customers. - Posted by: Bill Redekop (Cousin to Johanna) on: Feb 12, 2017

We are so sorry to hear of Ken's passing, and extend our heartfelt sympathies to all of his family. Over the years, since Ken came into Johanna's life and into our lives, we have grown to love him. He and Johanna made a great couple, and over the years we saw how close their relationship was. Last time we saw him, about six weeks ago, he again said that he and Johanna had never had a real fight, maybe an occasional disagreement from time to time, but never anything that really came between them. We have many happy memories of good times together with Johnna and Ken, both in Winnipeg and at Brereton. We have been in awe of his caring, love and concern for Johanna as her illness has progressed. He was a good man.
