WILLIAM (BILL) SAITES On January 13, 2017, at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill peacefully passed away at the age of 85, with his loving wife Kathleen by his side. Bill was predeceased by his first wife Violet, sisters Constantina and Effie, and grandson Andrew. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by sisters Pauline, Koula and Cia, brothers, Gregory, John and Costas, wife Kathleen, children Melodie, Deno (Margot), Kathy, Kelly (Tony), Sandra (Omar), and Nick (Nohemi), grandchildren, Tiffany (Tom), Kyiandra, Nicky, Melayna, Alexandra, Adrian, Zayn, Shaan, Aaron, Leslie, Ilani, Alex, Sarah, and Josh, great-grandchildren Teegan and Heidi, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was born in Krokilion, Greece in 1931. He left his village in 1949 for Athens, and shortly after to Canada arriving in Thunder Bay, ON. Penniless and not a word of English he started his work life washing dishes in his uncle's restaurant. Not long after he took his love of food, and strong business sense, to open and operate a string of successful restaurants. His greatest success was Shakey's Pizza. In Winnipeg he became known as the face of Shakey's. Bill had many interests and hobbies. He was involved with the Greek soccer clubs in Winnipeg and Kenora, owned prize-winning race horses, and loved travelling, fishing and hunting. He lived his life to the fullest. He had a passion and zest for life, a strong work ethic, he never shied away from a challenge, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family. In his final years he was still vibrant and seeking his next new venture. Nothing made him happier than spending time with and cooking for his family. Forever in our thoughts and hearts, you will be sadly missed. We love you. Services were held on January 18, in Las Vegas. Bill was surrounded by loving friends and family.

My Uncle Bill was a great guy. I'll really miss him. Every time I saw him (even if months went by) he would have a big smile and reach out for a hug and say Hi Sweetheart! Our prayers and condolences are with my cousins and their families. With love and sympathy, Nicki and George - Posted by: Nicki Gardos-Gibson and George Gibson (My uncle) on: Feb 12, 2017
