Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY (MARIE) STRICKLAND (BYRNE) December 18, 1932 - February 5, 2017 Mary (Marie), 84, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with family at her side on February 5, 2017. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her parents, Michael and Annie; sister Nora; brother Jimmy; son Russell; and great-granddaughter Kyra preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her siblings, John, Irene and Andrew; children, David, Gary, Debra (Dell) and Donna; grandchildren, Keri, Kris, Kory, Tommy, Dante and Keenan; great grandchildren, Kyannah, Kyleigh and Kyngston and special acquired family member Colleen Dell (Dave). Mary was born December 18, 1932 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She grew up steps from Edinburgh Castle and served time in the Scottish Air Force before getting married to Thomas Strickland in 1959. She immigrated to Winnipeg with her family in 1967. Mary worked for many years for the government of Manitoba before retiring and moving to live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. That is when she adopted the name "Nana" and wore the title with pride and grace. She was an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Marie made many special friends in Saskatoon and Winnipeg and will be sadly missed by them all. Private family celebrations of life will take place in Saskatoon, Winnipeg, British Columbia and Scotland. Condolences may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
