Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE MATTHES BOILY (nee WAZNY) Peacefully and surrounded by family, we are saddened to announce the passing of our mother on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in her 93rd year. Mom leaves to mourn four children Wayne (Pauline), Brenda (Richard), Barbara (Ed), Eric (Sherril), eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ed Matthes (1989) and Wilfred Boily (2011), her parents Victoria and John Wazny, sisters Kay and Bernice and brothers Alec and Gano, as well as many other family members. Mom lived life to its fullest right up to the last few weeks of her life. She was passionate about cooking and always welcomed family and friends with wonderful meals including our favorites, perogies, borscht and holupchi. Mom loved travelling, playing cards and spending summers at Winnipeg Beach. She was a wonderful storyteller and shared important memories with us which we will cherish forever. Mom was forever young in heart and spirit and made a deep connection with all whom she met. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she made us all feel special, loved and unique. In keeping with Mom's wishes, a private family interment will take place at a later date. Finally, our family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the Palliative Care nurses for their care, kindness and compassion over the last several months. If friends so desire a donation in her memory may be made to the Siloam Mission. Rest In Peace Mom. You will be missed and forever remembered.

Many childhood memories of a dining room table turned into perogy making.... Sneaking upstairs while playing downstairs as kids to grab them as they took them out of boiling water. Memories of her chicken soup with butter balls, her borscht, holopchi and meatballs. As a child we spent holidays and many Sunday dinners with her. As a teen I had one of my first jobs across the street from where she lived and she often made me dinner and apple pie and we had many nice visits. As an adult I cherish the times we had with her, holidays, time at Winnipeg Beach and time with my daughter. When my daughter was a toddler she would go to my moms while I worked and my mom would take her over there and they would go to Costco and Salisbury House for lunch. When you ask my daughter who is 6 now, her memories of great-gramma Jesse she remembers lunches and Salisbury House and "pink soup" (borscht). Her recipes, strength and many happy memories will always be in our hearts. Good-bye Gramma Jesse you are loved and will be deeply missed, I am honoured to have known you and been part of your life. - Posted by: Shawna Matthes (Grand-daughter) on: Feb 11, 2017
