Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE BARC (nee FLEURY) Peacefully, at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, February 5, 2017. Gertrude Barc, our beloved mom and grandma, aunt, and dear friend was born on May 13, 1923 on the family farm in Woodlands, Manitoba. Gertrude was one of twelve children born to her parents Marie-Rose Milette and John Alfred Fleury. Gertrude had the fondest memories of life on the dairy farm. She enjoyed life on the farm, playing with her siblings, and going to school. She adored her family. She missed her siblings who have passed before her, Alfred Fleury, Elizabeth Medynski, Theresa Feal, Agnes Tuliao, Rene Fleury, Charles Fleury, and Alexandre Fleury. She will be dearly missed by her sisters Jean Kiazyk, Irene Bouchard, Ida Lachance and husband Adrien, and her brother George and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude spent time in Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie. She helped her sisters when their children were born. She also learned how to sew professionally and later went to business school back in Winnipeg. She worked in the accounts payable office at Hudson's Bay Company in Winnipeg and truly enjoyed her work and experiences there. In 1960 she married William Barc and raised three children, Jennine, Paul and John. She welcomed Dan Liebzeit and Lisa Blazek, her son-in-law and daughter-in-law into the family with much love. She loved her grandchildren so incredibly much, Carter, Christian and Erin Liebzeit and Rosie, John and Ethan Barc. Her greatest joy was being with her family. She loved visiting, speaking on the phone, and keeping in touch with her siblings and their families. Gertrude made friends so easily and always tried to keep in touch with all of them. She enjoyed reading books especially biographies and adventures, sewing and watching sports and movies. She enjoyed reading the newspaper every day. She was a proud Canadian, she always voted thoughtfully even while in the hospital. Gertrude was so very grateful for everything she received. Her faith was always central in her life. We are grateful for the compassionate care Gertrude received. We would like to thank especially June at Villa Nova, Dr. Claire Jaeger, 4E Geriatrics and 4B Family Medicine Staff St. Boniface Hospital and the staff at Chez Nous and Actionmarguerite-Tache St. Boniface. Our mom is the best. She loved to say a kind word or share a smile to brighten someone's day. She was the most gentle, kind person and everyone loved her. She was the best mother we could ever have hoped for and she will be so missed. Her love is an incredible inspiration. God Bless you, Mom Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Parish, 255 Stafford Street on Tuesday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
