Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROLINE STELLA WHILLANS It is with deep sadness and sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Caroline Stella Whillans on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 91 years of age. Caroline was born October 2, 1925, the second youngest of ten children. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1996. Caroline is survived and loved by her three children, Cynthia (Frank), John, David (Janice); and grandchildren, Christopher (Cindy), Heather, Kyla and Brett and her great-grandchildren Jack and Noah. Raised on the family farm near London, Ontario, Caroline graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in May, 1947. Caroline married Jack Whillans on February 18, 1950. Dad took a transfer with Labatt's Brewery to Winnipeg in 1963, where they raised their family on Lanark St. in River Heights. While raising her family, Mom also worked as a nurse at Misericordia hospital, until her retirement in 1984. The greatest joy in Mom's life was her family. She was a loving mother and instilled a strong work ethic in her children. She was a decisive person who seldom took no for an answer. Just ask anyone who had to sit down and play a few hands of Euchre with her. Mom was an avid gardener and was always interested in all types of flowers, bushes and trees. She took great pride and enjoyment gardening and she would spend hours tending to her flowers and vegetables. You would best be advised to have your grass cut and weeds pulled. if she was on her way over to your house for a visit. Mom and Dad loved to travel back to Southern Ontario and to B.C, to visit with their family and friends. After their retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed their winter home in Mesa, Arizona, where they were joined by many of their Winnipeg friends and neighbours. Mom enjoyed family dinners, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand children, the odd trip to the casino and seafood, anytime she could feast on it. She will be lovingly missed by all that knew her. Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private memorial service. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice.
