GARFIELD LLEWELLYN BRIDGES (The Cat) December 9, 1943 - February 11, 2017 It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Garfield at the age of 73 years. He will be sadly missed by the love of his life Diane Gallant, who lovingly attended him until God took him home. Left to mourn are his brothers Colin (Liz), Jeff (Diane), sisters Hazel (Dale Baldwin), Joey (Phil Hamoline), sisters-in-law Claudia Bridges and Marlene Bridges. Also mourning this loss is his good friend Dave Butler and all the gang from his favourite haunt. Garf never had any children but formed many strong bonds with his life partners children, Bruce Gallant and Kim Coyne, plus all his nieces and nephews through the years. Garf grew up in a family of nine children, six of them being boys. They formed a very strong bond as they grew up. He will be greeted in heaven by his parents, Allen and Elizabeth Bridge, brothers Bill (Terry), Winston and David, sister Patricia Court (Gordon). Garf was a charming and charismatic individual who loved life, music, getting together with family and friends. Never a dull moment when Garf was around, he had the ability to turn any experience into a riveting story. But he also enjoyed his quiet time with his girl Diane, sitting out on the deck watching his garden grow. Always willing to lend a hand. He will be truly missed. We would like to express our gratitude to Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare. A very special thank you to the staff of the 6th floor Rehab for their exceptional care. As per Garf's wishes, a funeral will not be held, but rather he asks his friends and loved ones to raise a glass to him and remember him with a smile.

  • So sorry for the loss of Garfield, he was a good friend to me and I think I still owe him $20.00, I know he'll be waiting to collect. I'll miss him. It was one thing I always looked forward to when I got home to Winnipeg, was knowing I'd find Garf at the ole haunt as you say...Truly was a good friend and was always there to lend, not just $20, but helped me out many times.I could always count on bending his ear,and could always count on getting an earful....Many regards, Dale Hutchinson - Posted by: Dale Hutchinson (friend) on: Feb 18, 2017

Every day was a celebration when Garfield was around! I always looked forward to sharing a drink and a laugh at one of his many witty stories, always quick with a joke and a smile. I'm glad Kim and I had the chance to see him this summer, and we will miss him greatly. Sincerely, Michael Coyne - Posted by: Michael F. Coyne (Son in Law to Diane Gallant) on: Feb 15, 2017
