EUGENE GERVAIS On Friday, February 17, 2017 the family and friends of Eugene Gervais will gather to celebrate his life. Eugene passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, three days before his 87th birthday. Eugene was born at the St. Boniface Hospital on February 11, 1930 to Rosalie (Soucy) and Joseph Gervais of St. Eustache, MB. He was the seventh of nine children with an additional five older half-siblings born to his father and his first wife. Eugene met and married the beautiful love of his life, Margaret Lewis and they happily raised two daughters, Cheryl and Terry, together. Family was what mattered most to Eugene, family came first, and he especially loved children. Gene was predeceased by his parents in 1932 and 1947; his beloved wife in 1991; siblings Florence Broughton, Cecile Campeau, Alfred, Henry, Robert, and Andre; and half-siblings Theodore, Leon, Aurore, Julia, and Julien. Also, predeceasing Eugene were his in-laws; Dorothy and Joseph Lewis, Ethel, Florence, and Edwin. Let behind to remember Gene are Janet Elias, his loving life partner of more than 18 years; both of his daughters Cheryl (Murray) Falk and Terry (Chris) Budzan with grand-daughters Britney and Taylor; and Janet's family of Johnny (Tara) Elias with grand-daughters Shyan and Haley; and Tammie (Keith) Morissette, with granddaughter Kali. To his grandchildren, he will always be remembered as their Papa Geno. Also surviving Gene are brothers Joseph, of Fort Frances, ON, and Charles, of Nanaimo, BC, many nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law Don (Nancy) Lewis of Calgary, AB. Gene will also be missed by many dear friends. Eugene has been cremated. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Eugene's life at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. (four kms. past the Perimeter Hwy.) The Reverend Janet Walker will preside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be donated in Eugene's memory to Winnipeg Harvest or Siloam Mission.
