MARGARET ROSE PAULSON CONLON (nee OPITZ) June 1, 1930 - February 13, 2017 Margaret, our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and "GG" is now an angel in heaven, where she will dance, sing and laugh for eternity. Everyone who knew Margaret was drawn to her indomitable spirit, her love of life, and the bright spark of her personality. Born in Winnipeg, she met and fell in love with Charlie Paulson on Valentine's Day, 1952. They married April 11, 1953 and were blessed with two children, Sandy and Ken. The family moved several times within Manitoba and Saskatchewan because of Charlie's position with the Unemployment Insurance Commission. Margaret worked for Social Services and a law firm, and was a uniquely talented tailor and dressmaker. But Mum's true calling was taking care of people, starting with her children. She took care of Charlie until he passed away in 1985; of her "Unc" and her mother until her passing; and of Don after marrying him 16 years ago. Along with her nurturing love, we will remember Mum for her love of fun and music. She loved taking bus trips to casinos, and would often sing for and entertain her co-travelers. Margaret is survived by her husband, Don Conlon; daughter Sandra (Rick) Chartrand; son Ken (Joanne) Paulson; grandson Jarrod (Isering) Nelson, and great-grandson Charley; grandson David (Michelle) Chartrand (children Tyler and Emily); granddaughter Stephanie Chartrand; brother Marty (Sylvia) Opitz; sisters-in-law Barb Purnell, Lee Opitz and Dot Opitz; brother-in-law, Lawrence Wakaruk; Don's sons Kevin (Carmel) and Kelly (Laurie); and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her first husband of 32 years, Charlie Paulson; her parents, Theresa and Andrew Opitz; special uncle Martin Zwinger; brothers Paul, Bob, and Andy; and sister Madge. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, http://www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca/ Spread your angel wings and fly, Mum. You are free.
