ROBERT (BOB) HALL It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Hall announce his passing at the age of 81. He passed peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on February 12, 2017. Bob was a devoted husband to his wife Raymonde. He and Rae enjoyed 37 happy years of marriage together enjoying travelling, playing cards and sitting in the backyard watching the many birds and squirrels who came daily to feed at the bird feeders. Over the last five years, as Rae's health deteriorated, Bob became a devoted caregiver for Rae until he was no longer well enough to continue. Bob was a loving, caring and devoted father and grandfather who supported his family in his quiet, gentle manner. He is deeply missed and fondly remembered by his children, Rob "Kelly" (Susan), Kerry (Glen) and Kim, and his grandchildren Kyle, Corey (Kelsie), J.D. (Alanah), Hayley (Brendan), Kristin (Henry) and Brett, as well as by his stepchildren Dennis (Lea-Ann), Donna (Line), Diane and Darlene and his step-grandchildren Tyler, Shane, Steven, Michelle and Meghan. Bob lived in Transcona for over 50 years and was dedicated to the community. During his retirement, Bob spent many hours volunteering at Park Manor Personal Care Home, the Transcona Food Bank and for Meals on Wheels. Bob enjoyed all of the friends he met over the years in Transcona at the Senior's Meal program, the walking group that meets at the round table in Kildonan Place and at St. George's Anglican Church where he was an active member. Bob began working as a teenager and worked many places, including CP Rail, where he was named Canada's apprentice of the year, Moore Business Forms and finally the Royal Canadian Mint. He retired from the Mint where he had made many friends. He talked fondly of the monthly get-togethers for breakfast with his friends from the Mint. Bob was very determined and pursued many goals. He often talked about not having the chance to continue his schooling as a young man. He was determined to pursue his education and as an adult, he returned to school. He attended the University of Manitoba where he earned a Certificate in Management from the Canadian Institute of Management. Bob had a passion for music. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play in the school bands and was determined to learn to play himself. He practiced for hours every day and taught himself to play, at last count, nine instruments. He shared his passion for music with the congregation of St. George's, playing in church for many years. He also enjoyed his many years playing in the Advent Band at the Transcona Memorial United Church. Through his many activities over the years, Bob made many friends. He enjoyed his years in the Crossroads Toastmaster Club, the Transcona Jaycees, the Empire Lodge and the Ham Radio Club. He is remembered by all who knew him as a kind, caring and intelligent man with a great sense of humour. We are all sad to have Bob leave us too early, but know he rests in peace now. Heartfelt thanks go to the staff on 6E at St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care throughout Bob's stay, as well as to the staff on the Palliative Care ward who were supportive to Bob and his family during his short stay there. A special thank you to Reverend Helen Kennedy who spent many hours with Bob and his family supporting everyone through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Transcona Food Bank would be greatly appreciated. An evening of stories and celebration of Bob's life will be held on March 10, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oxford Heights Community Centre.
