NORMAN JARMUSKE
Born: Aug 28, 1952
Date of Passing: Feb 15, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN JARMUSKE With his family by his side, on February 15, 2017, Norman Jarmuske left all of those who love him, far too soon. Left to mourn are his wife Donna, dog Bingo, his children Joelle and Kent and Neal and Jen, grandchildren Carter, Grayson, Kennedy, Noah, Bodie and Bennett; his parents Albert and Agnes, mother-in-law Niynie, brothers and sisters Ken (Diane), Emily (Glen), Sherry (Bob), and Wayne, along with his sisters-in-law Charlene and Debbie and brother-in-law Sid. He also has numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as countless colleagues and friends. Norm was predeceased by his brother-in-law Les Schettler and father-in-law Wilfred Bender. Norm was born on August 28, 1952, but his life truly began when he met Donna, the love of his life, in 1969. They were married in 1974, and they moved to Shilo, where he began his teaching career which continued until his passing. Norm loved teaching, and after moving to Winnipeg in 1986 he taught at Selkirk Junior High in Lord Selkirk School Division, and then in River East Transcona School Division at Munroe Junior High, and the last four years at John W. Gunn. He valued his friendship and years spent teaching alongside Richard Dudych, as well as the many other colleagues he worked with over the years. His love for teaching carried into his personal life, and between all the home inspections and home improvements at family and friends' houses, making personalized toy boxes and toys for his grandchildren, hours were spent showing Joelle, Neal, Kent, his grandkids, and anyone else patient enough to listen, everything he knew about everything. Norm's passion in life was for his family and grandchildren, and he was happiest when they were all together. He enjoyed curling, both in his Tuesday night league at West Kildonan Curling Club with Neal, Carl, and Lance and also coaching on the ice with Carter, Grayson and Kennedy at Elmwood Curling Club. There was nothing Norm couldn't do, whether it was to fix, build, upholster, refinish, or repurpose. He was truly the guy everyone called when they needed a hand, and he ALWAYS had a hand to lend. We will love you and miss you forever Norm, Dad, Papa. Ibis Gong! The family would like to extend our thanks to the ER staff at Concordia Hospital.Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., February 24, 2017, at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Private interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenedenmemorial.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

I remember Norm from back in Shilo, mid to late 70s. He was my shops teacher. He was actually one of the younger teachers at the time. So long ago I can't recall much other than the building that we worked in used to have asbestos falling from the ceiling... and the 100 long division math questions he gave to me and my friend. Not sure why since we were saints! Thanks to Norm, I still have all my fingers! Sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Ron (former student) on: Feb 02, 2021

I would have been in one of the first classes Mr. Jarmuske taught in Shilo. He was very young and our shop teacher. I remember him mentioning his wife and new born child back then. As classes of boys, we gave him a lot of attitude and grief. For a few months he struggled to get us on task and paying attention. His persistence paid off. I learned a lot from him that year about safety, the tools and how to use them. Rest in peace, Sir! - Posted by: John G. White (Student) on: Feb 01, 2019

Norm was a cherished friend and colleague for many years, to so many of us. I knew him for 25 years and he NEVER CHANGED. Always one to celebrate the good things in life, alongside of us, but also to be there for support, advice, or simply an open ear. He loved his family so dearly that all of us felt we knew them as friends, whether through stories or continually-updated, beautiful family photos. This kind and loving man will certainly be missed by many. I know I speak for so many of his colleagues, Donna and kids, when I send our heartfelt condolences and love to your wonderful family. - Posted by: Donna Kurnell (Colleague and friend) on: Feb 23, 2017
