LORRAINE JACKSON Lorraine Jackson passed away February 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her sister, Darlene Jackson, nephew Adam Hurtig and niece Katie Hurtig, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She loved them all very much and was always there for them, whatever the need or occasion. She was a glowing example of love and family. "Auntie" was a very special person to them, and they will miss her deeply. Lorraine was raised in Thunder Bay and had remained close to many of her friends she made growing up there. She was very supported by them, always being encouraged to keep fighting. When she did not have the strength to answer the many texts that she received, her friends never gave up and kept on sending love and support. Darlene, Adam and Katie will forever be grateful to you all for the love and care packages that arrived along with all of your prayers. A very special thanks to Cathy Martin for the many enjoyable times Lorraine was able the share while visiting in Thunder Bay. She always looked forward to sitting outside on the deck, catching up, sharing stories and a bottle of wine. Thank you to all the staff at CancerCare, the many nurses who always had a smile for her. Her family would also like to thank Dr. Altman who always made her feel she was one of his special patients. Private interment. A Celebration of Life pending in Thunder Bay at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lorraine's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Lorraine was my wife JoAnne's roommate at St. Boniface following her major cancer surgery. She served as an inspiration to JoAnne during those two difficult weeks that followed. They kept in touch until Lorraine's passing. She was a brave lady. Unfortunately JoAnne lost her battle on June 19th. I remember her with respect and was thankful for her support of JoAnne during that difficult time. - Posted by: Larray Kivimaki (Aquaintance) on: Jul 25, 2017

Lorraine and I met while we worked together at Tabi. We became great pals after co facilitating a presentation where we had too much fun. While we lived in different provinces we always keep in touch chatting and texting regularly. Lorraine so dearly loved Darlene, Aj and Katie....she always had a warm story to share about them....she was so proud....they were her everything. Lorraine had a great sense of humor, quit one liners and she was a great story teller. I admired Lorraine, she was an amazing leader with wonderful insight, I loved to get her take on things...she had a great mind. I will forever cherish our time together, sharing stories, watching the voice and awards shows over the phone and laughing till we cried. I love you Lor.....I will forever miss you xxx - Posted by: yvonne denomme (friend) on: Feb 27, 2017

I met Lorraine in 2009 when she was the district manager at Talbots, I had the pleasure of working with her for several years. Lorraine moved on in her career to be closer to her family, I am happy to say we stayed in touch of and on and we shared some fun thoughts on life and its twists. I am sadden by her passing, my thoughts and prayers go her family. RIP Lorraine you will be missed. - Posted by: Victoria Ballinger (Work) on: Feb 25, 2017

Lorraine was an amazing woman and friend. I had the privilege of getting to know her while doing her hair the last decade. We had great conversations and a lot of laughs during our visits and I got to know what was important to her over this time. Nothing and no one meant more to her than her sister Darlene and her children Adam (AJ as she called him) and Katie, she was so proud of them and loved them so much. Many of our visits started or ended with a conversation of what her and her sister were up to or what Adam and Katie are up to and what they have accomplished. She was a great ear when I was going through some rough times and I know that she would have been there for any of her friends and family. I will miss you so much my friend. - Posted by: Amalia Albanito (Hairstylist and friend) on: Feb 24, 2017

Darlene you may recognize my name as I lived up the street from you on Marlboro Rd. I was a friend of Lorraine's during our teen years. I am sincerely sorry to hear of her passing. I have lived in Winnipeg since 1990 and had no idea Lorraine was in the same city. How sad that we did not reconnect these past yrs. Have good memories of our sharing the usual teen stories in the late 60's. I do remember parking my car in your driveway and you accidentally backed into it!!! Something's we never forget. Would love to hear more about Lorraine's life. Perhaps you could tell me a story or two. Once again, please know how sorry I am that you lost your sister. Will say a prayer for your family as I know she will be missed. Denise - Posted by: Denise Fromm (Gravelle) (Childhood Friend) on: Feb 22, 2017

Darlene, Adam and Katie: Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. It was absolutely heartbreaking to receive the news. I will hold on to the good memories of having Lorraine over to my house when Cathy was in town. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lynny - Posted by: Marilyn Martin (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2017
