MATTHEW WILLIAM NOEL HYGAARD LECLERC January 6, 2003 - February 17, 2017 We are very saddened to announce, after a challenging but joyous and full life, our brave son Matthew passed away peacefully in our arms at Children's Hospital in the early morning of February 17, 2017. Matthew (our "Monkey" as we called him) touched everyone's heart who walked along with him during his life journey and we are appreciative of each one of you. We would especially like to thank the staff at St. Amant Centre, PSCU and PICU for helping to make Matthew's last few days comfortable and his passing peaceful. He will be deeply missed by Mommy and Daddy (Eilyn and Phil Leclerc), uncle "J" (Jason Hygaard), Amma (Alanna Hygaard), Memere and Pepere (Doreen and Marcel Leclerc), Gammy and Papa (Cindy Murphy and Joe Popovitch), Grand Memere (Lina Therrien), his BFF Miranda Cavers, as well as a large extended family, friends, nurses and caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your choice of St. Amant Centre, Winnipeg Children's Hospital, The Rehabilitation Centre for Children, or Make-A Wish. A celebration of Matthew's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. John's Cathedral, 135 Anderson Avenue, Winnipeg. Reception to follow. We invite those in attendance to wear their favourite primary colour and encourage children to bring their favourite "stuffy". Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • My sincere condolences. Matthew was a very special boy. That smile lit up the room every time. My favourite memory of him is riding a trike, his smile getting bigger and bigger the faster we went. - Posted by: Carol Kehler (Rehabilitation Centre for Children) on: Apr 19, 2017

  • I worked with Eilyn (briefly several years ago) and work with Pepere Marcel. I was very saddened to hear of Matthew's passing and my heart goes out to the family. An angel has received his wings and is in a very special place right now, being held in the arms of God. Everytime time you (Matthew's family) find a dime may you know that Matthew is communicating with you and letting you know he is being watched over. - Posted by: Shauna Jacques () on: Feb 23, 2017

  • What words can ease the pain you are experiencing. All but one word "Memories" that is a word that you will always have of Matthew. Expand on those wonderful years you shared with him. He will never be forgotten, but always cherished in your hearts. His memory will live for ever. My deepest condolences to all.
