JOHN RYDZYGOWSKI It is with great sadness we share the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and friend. On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, true to his nature, John quietly slipped away on his own terms, peacefully in his home. Left to mourn his loss are his wife of 38 years, Bogusia, sons Joseph (Stacey), and Mike (Bree-Anne), daughters Diana (Paul), and Alexandra, grandsons Kazmir, Prestin, Owen and Wyatt, and granddaughter Raylee. John was born August 1, 1949 in Bakowice, Poland. John's father passed away when he was 18 months old. With dreams to embrace a better future his mother Helen and himself immigrated to Canada, May 1960, sponsored by his uncle Kazmir Smolinski. November 4, 1978 he married his beloved wife and went on to have four children and five grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy. The majority of his career was spent in the automotive industry. In 2005 he found his calling as a brother Knight and life insurance agent with the Knights of Columbus. After many years of doctor visits and suffering without answers John and his family received the devastating news February 23, 2016 of end stage ALS. True to his character John proved the doctors wrong and surpassed the prognosis of six months. Since his diagnosis John had an amazing, devoted team of caregivers. With deep appreciation we would like to send a special thank you to Tamara, Corey, and the rest of the Palliative Care team, the ALS Society, all our family and friends for their support, compassion, love and laughs throughout this past year. Rosary and viewing Monday, February 27, 2017, 10:00 a.m., funeral to follow 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2A-1717 Dublin Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3H 0H2, or the Holy Ghost Church Parish Radio Program, 342 Pritchard Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 2J3. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I had the privilege of having John work for me in the late 80s or early 90s in my Royal Lepage Real Estate office at 2860 Pembina Hwy. He was full of energy and ambition and wanted so badly to be successful in this field. Unfortunately it did not work out for him and he returned to the automotive industry. But I have rarely seen an individual work harder to try to be successful in my 40+ years of being involved in real estate!! I will never forget JR. RIP John. - Posted by: Cliff King (Co-worker) on: Feb 22, 2025

  • John and Bogusia were some of our first friends when we moved to Winnipeg in 2007 for work. He was one of our team members for Knights of Columbus Insurance here in Manitoba. We are very honored to have known him and work with him and we also had the great pleasure of getting to know his beautiful wife and his family. John always had a great sense of humor and a great jovial presence. He always had a joke for us to make us laugh, or a good story. He was a great family man, and everyone knew that his wife, his children, his grandchildren were the center of his world. A very loving and sensitive soul. You will be greatly missed John. May God Bless You and keep you in his arms. May God Bless and watch over your wonderful family and find some way to give them some comfort for their great loss. Love Always, Andre and Laurie Cossette - Posted by: Andre and Laurie Cossette (Friends, co-workers) on: Feb 24, 2017
