JUNE SEDDON June 30, 1932 - February 21, 2017 Peacefully, and surrounded by her loved ones, June passed away on February 21 at the age of 84. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Phil Seddon, children Heather Seddon (Bob), Brian Seddon (Audrey), Cindy Seddon (Pat), Barry Seddon (Cindy), and numerous, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Fern Rae, and long-time friend Isabel Tjaden. Mom was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan, one of eight children to Clifford and Vera Butterfield. She grew up and went to school in Alexander, Manitoba. She held many jobs over the years, and met her husband Phil while she worked the night shift as a telephone operator in Elkhorn. They were married in 1954 in Brandon. Dad's employment with CP Rail took them to a variety of small towns throughout Southern Manitoba. They eventually settled in Winnipeg in a home that became the centre of activity in an ever-growing family. In their later years, Mom and Dad spent much of their retirement caring for their grandchildren. Together they were also active members of the St. Vital Curling Club, where they made many life-long friends. Mom was an ardent knitter and baked some of the best homemade buns. Summers were spent with family and friends at Gustafson's Resort on Longbow Lake, where Mom could often be found tending her garden, chasing after her grandkids, or enjoying a late-night card game with Betty and Walt. These memories are some of our fondest. Mom will be warmly remembered as a lively and nurturing woman who always put her family first. She valued hard work, integrity, and was a fiercely loyal friend to those who were lucky enough to know her. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the nurses and healthcare aides on the 2nd floor at Vista Park Lodge, where Mom resided for the past five years. We are thankful for the kindness, compassion, and dignity she was shown during her time there and throughout her final days. In honour of Mom's wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
