Thank you to Dr. Mecek, Dr. Borrett and the nurses and staff on third floor South for your compassionate care. Olive was born in New Glasgow, NS to Robert and Catherine Marshall. In addition to husband Orval and daughter Heather, she is survived by three sisters and two brothers: Joyce, Marmora, ON, Barbara (David) Burton, Brighton, ON, Elva (Larry) Wilson, Belleville, ON, Ken (Joyce) Marshall, Tweed, ON and Gerald (Sue) Marshall, Prairieville, LA, USA, as well as three sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Roy) Embley, Verna (Wilfred) Hammond, and Selma (Bernard) Hink. Olive entered The Salvation Army Training College in 1953 and served for 15 years in the Maritimes, Ontario, Winnipeg and British Columbia, mostly with Major Ethel Moore who became a very dear friend until her demise in 2005. In 1971 she married Orval and together they served as faithful soldiers at Ellice Avenue, Hampton Citadel, and HPT, particularly with youth. Olive took great pleasure in watching youth grow and mature physically and in their faith. She looked forward to their hugs each week as an expression of their love for her. Special thanks to the Officers, friends and comrades at HPT for their loving care, flowers, cards, visits and meals. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in late April. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0S8 for the Kids Klub and Y.P. Corps.

My condolences to Orville and family. Since the passing of my Mom, Flo Hollis we have lost track of each other. Olive will be sadly missed by Orval and family. In 2015 we sold our home in Winnipeg and David and I moved to St. Andrews, just outside Lockport to the Mapleton Lane Life lease apts. This took us much closer to our summer cottage at Gull Lake and David's daughter in Selkirk. It also got us away from the heavy traffic in Winnipeg. Orval, where are you in Winnipeg? Perhaps I could visit one day when I am in town. Kathleen - Posted by: Kathleen (Kay) Shewfelt Boyd (Cousin (Humphries/Hollis) Daughter of Flo & Harry Hollis) on: Feb 26, 2017
