Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryYVONNE CECILE SCHREIBER (DE GRAVE) Born: October 14, 1916 Date of Passing: February 25, 2017 Our Energizer Bunny finally ran out of batteries. She passed peacefully on the morning of February 25, 2017, with family by her side. Yvonne celebrated her 100th birthday in October, 2016. She sparkled at her party with family and then with her friends at the Delta Manor. She lived independently until she suffered a stroke on February 1. Her mind was still sharp as a tack after entering hospital and she told us many entertaining stories. Yvonne made homemade soups and baked buns right up until the day of her stroke. She was little but mighty, and feisty too - and she was well-respected for those qualities. Yvonne was well-loved by a whole host of family members. She is survived by daughters Lorna (John) Gamboz of Toronto and Janis (Ernest) Molgat of Victoria, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her brother Julian De Grave, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special shoutout to her two nieces; Charliene Havixbeck, Suzanne Desimpelaere and their remarkable families for their unwavering support for Auntie Yvonne. They graciously included her in all their family gatherings and she holds a special place in all their hearts. She had many neighbours at the Delta Manor Apartments who were always ready to lend a helping hand if she needed one. She led a craft group for many years and continued to attend the Tuesday afternoon groups until the day before she entered the hospital. She was an avid knitter over the years, producing many sweaters, toques, scarves, mittens and socks for family and friends, and will be especially remembered for the many teddy bears she produced for needy children both locally and abroad. We are grateful and appreciative to all the doctors, nurses and rehab staff who took such wonderful care of Yvonne at the Victoria General Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 2, 11:30 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy., with Rev. Fr Colin Peterson presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rossbrook House via www.canadahelps.org. Online tributes: www.bardal.ca

To Lorna and her family, we send our sincere sympathy at the loss of your mother and grandmother. She was such a strong and active woman with a keen mind and an interest in everyone she met. We always loved hearing of her visits to your house and the gardening and soup making as well as baking and knitting. We are honoured that our granddaughter has one of the special bears!! May the wonderful memories keep your spirits high and your hearts filled with peace and joy! Love, The Fergusons - Posted by: Bruce and Marnie Ferguson (Friends ) on: Feb 28, 2017
