FRASER MACLELLAN Fraser was born on January 12, 1929 and grew up in Dominion, Cape Breton Island. After working the coal mines for a brief time, he joined the Air Force and after his discharge, moved to Winnipeg where he was employed by C.P.R. as a sleeping car conductor. In 1954 Fraser met Fran and they were married October 22, 1955. On their first anniversary, Fran and Fraser were blessed with their only daughter, Jo-Anne, who now resides in Toronto, Ontario with her husband Daryl Duda. After leaving the railroad, Fraser took a job with Canada Post. It wasn't long before he discovered the tough and difficult working conditions there and became a career union leader for C.U.P.W. fighting for fair and just worker's rights. He ended his Postal career as the Manager of Customer Service and retired after a combined 25 years of dedicated service. Fran and Fraser spent many years traveling the world exploring places from the Caribbean through Europe, Turkey and the former Yugoslavia. After moving to Gimli, Manitoba, Fraser remained active serving on the B.O.D. in Aspen Park Condos. He was also with the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 182) including positions like Bar Chairmen, First Vice President, and finally President from 1990-1991. When he wasn't busy with those things, Fraser enjoyed curling and golfing, achieving an eight ender and hole-in-one respectively. Most of all, Fraser enjoyed nature and the outdoors, camping and fishing with his daughter Jo-Anne, while Fran held down the fort at the trailer. Fran often said "they leave way too early in the morning just to catch fish!" Fraser passed away peacefully with Fran by his side on February 28, 2017 at The Betel Home in Gimli. Fran and Jo-Anne would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Betel Homes and Gimli Hospital for their unbelievable compassion, professionalism and tender care of Fraser during his last few years. Their kindness will never be forgotten. A small service will be held Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. in Gimli, Manitoba, at Johnson Hall on the 5th floor (94 1st Avenue).

Fran and JoAnne - my deepest sympathy on losing your husband and father. Fraser was a good friend of my dad's for many years through the Post Office. I remember many Sunday afternoons at your home on Maryland. May your memories bring you much comfort in the days to come. - Posted by: Debbie Chase (Wells) () on: Mar 06, 2017
