EARL GRAHAM IRVINE March 13, 1935 - February 28, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 with family by his side, Earl peacefully passed away. Earl's memory will be cherished by his wife of 58 years Marguerite; and their children, Jerry, Caroline (Morgan), Warren (Kristina) and Earleen. He will be greatly missed by his nine grandkids; Jordan, Ara, Melanie, Myles, Tyler, Curtis, Kennedy, Hugh and Jacob. Earl worked as a Lineman for the Manitoba Telephone System for 37 years, where he earned the nick-name "Earl the Squirrel" as it was rumored he could climb up and down telephone poles faster than a squirrel. He enjoyed his career at MTS, but more importantly, he enjoyed the people he worked with. He made life-long friends, many of which lasted well into his retirement. Family meant everything to Dad. He was a huge fan when it came to anything to do with the grandkids, whether it was watching hockey, baseball, softball, football or lacrosse. Always their number one fan, he would often watch multiple games in the same day as to not miss any of the action. Dad also enjoyed professional sports and could always be found in front of a TV watching the Jets, Bombers and Blue Jays. Dad was the ultimate "Armchair Coach" and had opinion on everything. As a hobby, he loved to fish, summer or winter. He liked nothing better than chasing the "one that got away". He often said "A bad day of fishing is better than anything else". In retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed many outings; they did everything together including morning coffee at McDonalds, visits to the Charleswood Legion and Assiniboia Downs and time with the kids. Dad would have been 82 on March 13, and we know he would have looked forward to his birthday celebration with his family. He loved when we all got together for laughs, good food and great times. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Coodin as well as the staff at the Grace Hospital for their compassion and care given to Dad and all of us during this time of sorrow. As Dad requested, cremation and a private family service has taken place. A celebration of Earl's life with friends and family will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Charleswood Legion at 6003 Roblin Blvd. in Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined, but as Dad had a soft-spot in his heart for his four legged friends, the family requests that if you so choose, a donation be made to the Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. 204-782-3541
