Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(NORA) JOAN/NONI CASWELL (née GOW) January 10, 1928 March 2, 2017 It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mom, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, on March 2, 2017, in Saskatoon. Mom was born on January 10, 1928, in Winnipeg, to William and Clara Gow, third oldest of four and only daughter. Joan is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, George and (Donald) Hugh, cherished Aunt Nan Marshall, and dear nephews, Tom Irwin and John Gow. She is survived by her older brother Harold (Francis) Frank; dearly beloved daughters, Sheila (Barry) and Diane (Janice); granddaughters, Connie, Chris (Steve) and Michelle (Andy); grand-dogs, Stewie, Toby and Schroeder; and six great-grandchildren, Norah, Zeth, Hudson, Calvin, Owen and Murray, and many special family and friends. Joan attended school in Minnedosa and Napinka, and graduated from United College in Winnipeg, in 1946. She moved to Saskatoon where she worked closely under her Aunt Nan at Radio Station CFQC. Mom loved golfing with her Aunt Nan and spent many summer evenings together playing the Pansy 9; it was a wonderful time in mom's life. She scored a hole in one in 1996 and enjoyed her last game in 2014, in Mesquite, NV. Bridge was also an important part of mom's life. She created many valued friendships that lasted for over 55 years. Mom never stopped she said she had no time to be sick. Her family was most important to her: she was happiest when she brought together her daughters and their families, her brothers with theirs's and all extended family. The family cabin (Hawk Lake) was where she accomplished this and what mom called "heaven" - a place to go to find yourself, a place for enjoying family. Many thanks to all who enjoyed being a part of mom's life. I know she valued each and every one of you. The staff at St. Ann's became her extended family; thank you for the friendships and validation. They made her feel wanted and respected. And now she is free. A celebration of Joan's life will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 at Saskatoon Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Condolences may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (306-244-5577)
