I want to extend sincere condolences to Jean's family and to her friends. I was deeply saddened to hear of Jean's passing. I had the good fortune of working with Jean at DIAND for almost a lifetime. In looking back into the deep recesses of that dim past, she still shines as a bright light, the bright light of a diligent, dedicated and cheerful co-worker, one who welcomed all. A generous person, she willingly guided and mentored new recruits, many of whom affectionately referred to her as: "mother". Mother Jean, may you rest in peace. - Posted by: Claude St-Jacques (co-worker) on: Mar 17, 2017

Sincere condolences to Jean's family. I had the pleasure of working with her at DIAND. She was always there for guidance and support, special to those of us who had moved away from family. Although she could be stern at times, her humour and smile prevailed. I am forever grateful that she adopted our family cat and then provided updates on its wellbeing - so appreciated by us all - a great memory of a special lady. - Posted by: Ann Wheddon (Work colleague) on: Mar 14, 2017

So sad to hear of Jean's passing. I worked with her at DIAND for many years, and she was a pillar of help and support always I had many long chats with her about personal matters, and her caring was very touching. I know she was liked by all the staff that worked with her. - Posted by: Michael Kirkpatrick (Friend and colleague) on: Mar 10, 2017

I had the opportunity of working with Jean at Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. Jean was always an up beat person who got along with everyone she met. She was also a very straight forward speaking person who let you know what she was always thinking even if you didn't want to hear it some times. During my time as the Director of the Economic Development section she would often come into my office either alone or with her pals, Elva Barkwell or one of the other ladies in the section just to tell me I had some how screwed up on one thing or another. Yes, she didn't care who you were or what your position was, if you screwed up you heard about it. I became a better manager and person from her little chats. May you rest in peace Jean! - Posted by: Tom Rhoades () on: Mar 10, 2017
