DOROTHY KERR July 9, 1922 - February 26, 2017 Our beautiful mother and grandmother passed with peace and grace. with her family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband Al in 1998. Survived by her son Greg Patenaude (Bonnie) of Winnipeg, daughter Sandra Holdnick (Dennis) of Winnipeg; grandchildren: Shawn Holdnick, Jay Holdnick, Arianne Chaisson, Amanda Patenaude, Wes Holdnick, Amber Nott, Ash Holdnick; and her 11 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was born in Fort Frances, Ontario and grew up in a log house located on Rainy Lake with her parents and six siblings. As the youngest child she became an expert "outdoorswoman" learning to live off the land in a lifestyle she became very passionate about. She later moved to Winnipeg and threw her energies into raising her two children. Dorothy had many talents and interests, some of which were gardening, needlepoint, sewing and baking the best apple pie in the land. She always cared deeply for her pet cats, spoiling them excessively with food and attention. Dorothy and her husband Al were avid campers and enjoyed camping and fishing near Beresford, MB. They spent much of their time touring numerous campgrounds of western Canada and the southern US, enjoying many adventures and shopping excursions (another hobby of hers). Dorothy was very proud of her Irish heritage and hosted a notorious annual St. Patrick's Day event, a tradition the family will continue on in her honour. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest passion was spending time with loved ones. The family will hold a private service to celebrate Dorothy's life. We wish to thank Dr. Young and the staff at the Victoria Hospital, as well the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their care. If you wish, donations may be made to the Humane Society on her behalf. Dorothy leaves us rich in fond memories of our time spent in her presence.
