CHARLES L'ESPERANCE On Friday, March 10, Charlie peacefully passed away at Maples Personal Care Home. He leaves his loving and devoted wife, Pat of 66 years. Also mourning his loss are his five sons, Wayne (Linda deceased), Bruce (Shelley), Neil (Gaby), Allan (Linda), and Robert and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlie was born in Winnipeg on June 16, 1926 and was proud of making it to 90 years of age. He was the last surviving member of his large family. Charlie was employed with CN for almost 40 years. Charlie was happiest at the family cottage on Nora Lake in the Whiteshell, a place he cherished and spent many happy hours with his family and friends. Charlie loved to hike, fish and snowmobile at the Lake. He was well known for lively discussions with neighbors on the proper way to build things and anything else that came up. Charlie coached hockey at Maple Leaf Community Club for many years and was known by everyone as "Uncle Charlie". He enjoyed watching all sports on tv, particularly baseball and hockey. He said what he thought but he did it with love. Following his retirement, Charlie and Pat enjoyed wintering at Magic Valley Trailer Park in Weslaco, Texas where they formed many friendships. Family wishes to acknowledge the tremendous care provided by the staff of the Maples Personal Care Home. A small family service will be held. Wheeler Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

We have very fond memories of Charlie, his great sense of humour, fishing knowledge (which he shared readily)and his love of family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all! Life was always lots of fun with Charlie as our neighbor. He was more than helpful, he was always there to lend a hand when we were building our cottage or anything else. To our sons, he was Uncle Charlie and we'll all miss his endless jokes and stories, followed by "I've got another one for ya'". Our deepest condolences to Pat and the family.
