So many Winnipegers have forgotten that before Bob Burns there was Peter Jackson--PJ the DJ--on CKY's Teen Dance Party.... I remember being one of the regulars on his show, being guided by Peter as a 16-year-old interested in going into television. He was so very, very kind.... have to admit of course that I had a crush on him as so many of us did.... who could resist that wonderful smile and amazing voice. The group was broken-hearted when he was replaced, but life went on. Still, memories remain. Thanks Peter for being part of an exciting period of my teens. To his family and friends, I envy you having had him in your lives for so many years, and offer my sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Ruth Wawruck-Hemmett (aka Connie) (fan) on: Jul 31, 2017

Pete will always be remembered as the person who helped name our oldest daughter. He and Bill Webb were visiting us in our first apartment one evening and Peter with his usual sense of humour said with a name like Flaws, you should call her "Candy". Candy Flaws is a good stage name. Bill Webb (his then brotherinlaw claims it was his suggestion, but I am afraid Pete made it. I called her Candace, but not for that reason, she was not thrilled with "Candy", but it made her famous in high school, when she was running for Vice President of Dakota Collegiate, because no one could believe we could be so mean. People still bring up her name when they talk about weird names. - Posted by: Pat Flaws (friend) on: Apr 02, 2017

Another chapter in my high school years is closed. I was member 120000 of the Hi-Fi Club and won many prizes. Of course it wouldn't have been the same without PJ the DJ. I think I might still have some carrying cases for 45 PM records with the King Size Coke logo somewhere in storage. God Bless. - Posted by: Rene Jacob (fan) on: Mar 26, 2017

PJ the DJ who could forget listening to Peter on their transistor radios on a Sunday afternoon on the sands of Grand Beach. We surely enjoyed his style of spinning the top tunes. Many fond memories. Sincere condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Ken (Listner) on: Mar 25, 2017

For those of us who were in our teens in the 60s, who could ever forget those mellow "pipes" of PJ the DJ on CKY radio as he spun those top 50 platters? On occasional Friday nights, you could cruise into the Champs Chicken restaurant on the corner of Henderson & Melbourne in EK and see Peter in person, broadcasting those top 50 hits from the "Padded Cell" in the parking lot. Although Peter didn't stay in Winnipeg all that long, he certainly left behind lots of great memories of those good times he helped to create. Condolences to the Jackson family in your time of loss. - Posted by: Jae Eadie () on: Mar 18, 2017
