Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON ROSS MITCHELL Our beloved husband, father, grandfather Ross Mitchell died peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, on March 12, 2017, aged 84. Ross fought his many ailments bravely in his last several years and yet held on to his gentle disposition. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce; children, Blake, Barb Orr (Gerald) of Winnipeg, and Blair (Teri Ledyard) of San Pedro, CA; grandchildren, Apryl and Jared Schumann (Brayden and Mikenna) of Gillam, MB and Michael Tremblay of SK. Also left to mourn his passing, his sister Barbara (Don) Sinnema of Comox, BC; in-laws, Judy Kidd (Stewart), Kenny Park, Allan Park, Curtis Park of Winnipeg and Rick Livermore of Manitou, MB; many nieces and nephews. Ross was predeceased by his parents Lucy and Harry Mitchell; sisters, Irene (Charles) Dickson and Dorothy (Babe) Pull; nephews, Gordon Pull and Bobby Pull; in-laws, Cecil and Cassie Park, Roy Park (Grace), Leonard Park, Brian Park (Dorothy), Doreen Cantwell (Tony), Irene Park and Patsy Livermore. Ross was born in Winnipeg on July 18, 1932, living in Fort Garry most of his young life. He began his electrical career at the University of Manitoba. In 1965, he moved his young family to Pinawa, MB. Ross built his last home in Lac du Bonnet and after retirement from AECL, he and Joyce returned to Winnipeg. Ross was a deeply caring and compassionate father and husband, a hard worker and a gentle soul. He loved his family so deeply and was loved so in return. He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, whether it be boating, fishing, snowmobiling or downhill skiing. Ross and Joyce enjoyed their long road trips throughout the U.S. and Canada covering most of the map. When travelling became more difficult, he was happy taking shorter trips to the casinos in the northern U.S. Eventually, he was content to occasionally make it out to the casinos in Winnipeg. Thank you to all the medical staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ross's life will be held in later spring.
