BARBARA JOAN INGLIS
Date of Passing: Mar 13, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA JOAN INGLIS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Inglis on March 13, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Mazella Somerville and her brother Robert. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 63 years, Lawson; and her four children, Joanne (Henry), Stewart (Juliette), Cameron (Sally) and Duncan (Debbie). She will also be greatly missed by her twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild and all the other people she touched in her life. Barbara was born November 14, 1931 in Winnipeg and grew up in Norwood. She always reflected fondly of her time in Norwood with family and friends. She graduated from High School and went to University of Manitoba to take Home Economics. It was there that she met the love of her life, Lawson. He was the dreamy guy who came over and asked her to dance and the rest was history. Barbara and Lawson quickly married and soon started a family with the arrival of Joanne. Barbara was a strong supporter of volunteering. She helped with the Junior League, Girl Guides, The Winnipeg Art Gallery, and in later years with Revenue Canada. She would come home feeling that she had really helped people and encouraged us all to give back and to be a better person. Family was so important to her especially her husband Lawson. They always did everything together, whether it was travel, helping on Dad's farm projects or just walks at the lake. She always would say that he was the love of her life. She would take the time to play games with her children and later grandchildren. Family suppers were always full of laughter and great food including her wonderful pies. Some of her fondest memories were of spending the summers at their cabin at Lake of the Woods. It was there that everyone could be together and she enjoyed this the most. In later years, she was unfortunately diagnosed with dementia and her health slowly declined. We would like to thank the staff at Misericordia Place for their kind and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Art Gallery.

For years we always came out to Winnipeg from Toronto to see Nana, Auntie Barbara and Uncle Lawson and our cousins. I always enjoyed the trip in the summer when school was over. I have such fond memories of our summers in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Barbara Chapman (Somerville) (niece) on: Jul 25, 2022

I remember Aunt Barbara most from when I was a little girl growing up in Winnipeg. I thought she was the most beautiful, elegant woman I had ever seen. She wore bracelets that jangled and was always smiling and happy. Lawson and Barbara always had dogs and I remember the black lab, Captain, that seemed so huge and out of control to me. Aunt Barbara of course had no problem with him and always made me feel safe and secure. There was a warmth and gentleness about her and that is the memory I will always have. She was a wonderful human being and I know will be missed by her family so very much. Please accept my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Deborah Harding (Niece) on: Apr 17, 2017
