DORIS GERTRUDE HUMENUIK
Date of Passing: Mar 12, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS GERTRUDE HUMENUIK (nee TAYLOR) It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Doris Gertrude Humenuik (nee Taylor) on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the age of 90 years. Remaining to cherish Doris' memory are her daughters, Linda (Ron) Kenyon, Dianne McShane (Lindolfo Medeiros) and Nancy; grandchildren, Bryan (Carolyn) Kenyon, Krista (Andy) Mizerak, Lindsay and Stacy (Lynden) Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Ethan and London Kenyon, Aubrey, Laurel and Gretchen Mizerak, Kyla and Riley Maxwell; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim (Maxim); her father George Taylor; mother Margaret (Malcolm) (Taylor) Heselwood, and nine siblings. Doris was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom loved spending her time volunteering at Misericordia Hospital and then was the first volunteer at the new Victoria Hospital from February 1, 1971 to July 16, 2012. She was a great hostess of many parties held at home for family and friends and would really dance up a storm. Mom enjoyed working on all her different craft projects from knitting, floral arranging to her plastic embroidering. The monthly Rummoli game with the neighbour ladies was a fun time had by all, especially when all the winnings went for a nice dinner out on the town, once a year. Of course, Mom's love for gardening was the best, especially the planting of peas, so we could all sample them fresh from the vine, as none ever made it to a pot. Although most of the great-grandchildren live in the United States, on their visits to Winnipeg, Mom always found time, day or night to play games. She would surprise them all with her knowledge and wit. Grandma's specialty was sending cards and letters to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a perfectly "foiled" gift inside each one. No formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations may be made in Doris' memory to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8 or to a charity of one's choice. Sincere condolences to my cousins; Linda; Dianne and Nancy and their families on the passing of Aunty Doris. My sister and I truly enjoyed a few last visits with Aunty Doris when she was at the Victoria Hospital as she talked of her childhood with our mother and her other siblings. We knew of Aunty Doris's long volunteer work with the Victoria Hospital and so admired her for that. Like my cousin; Carol Hinter relates; we loved going to our Grandma Heselwood's little apartment at Christmas and visiting with Aunty Doris and the relatives on my mom's side. Aunty Doris is the last of my mom's siblings to pass away; she will be missed. Sincerely thinking of her children; grandchildren and great grandchildren at this time. Hugs to you all. - Posted by: Arlene Dorge (Niece) on: Mar 23, 2017

I will always remember Cousin Doris and her kindness. Doris was my Mothers first cousin on the Malcolm side. In later years she looked at lot like my Grandmother. Always loved spending time with her when in Winnipeg and our long telephone conversation over the many years. She loved to talk about her Grandma, called Little Grandma Malcolm to many of us. Doris had great storries to share. Cousin Doris you will be missed. - Posted by: Allan Johnson (Cousin) on: Mar 22, 2017

I can remember many family get together's with Aunt Doris. I especially remember Christmases at Grandma's oh so small Apartment and it being with Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and my parents and my brother and sisters attending. I also remember Aunt Doris joining my parents at their country home, with several of my Aunts visiting - the laughter in vivid in my memory. With so many siblings I know our fathers siblings did not gather all at the same time and place because of the volume. There as just too many children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Aunt Doris will be remembered! - Posted by: CAROL HINTHER (NIECE) on: Mar 22, 2017
