CYNTHIA ANNE HUNTER
Born: Nov 16, 1928
Date of Passing: Mar 16, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCYNTHIA ANNE HUNTER (nee MCDONALD) November 16, 1928 - March 16, 2017 Cynthia was born to John Hamilton and Marion McDonald in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A graduate of Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, she studied photography in both Toronto and Switzerland. Cynthia valued family above all else. She kept strong ties with her extensive family, gathering the threads together, and allowing us to know each other, and ourselves, a little better. Her magnetic personality and unquenchable optimism brought people together. In her community, she was instrumental in several heritage projects, for which she received the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal, and several other awards. She had a flair as an entertainer, as anyone fortunate enough to attend her parties will attest. In more recent years, her optimism manifested itself as bravery and a good deal of courage. When she was faced with daunting health challenges, she did so with her usual indomitable spirit. Cynthia "joined the choir" as she would say, March 16, 2017 in Kelowna General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Andrew Hunter, her children, Alex (LeeAnne) Grant, Anna (Ian) Curtin, and Cecily (Jim Barrie) Grant, grandchildren Winona, Devin, Sandy, Julian and Kelly; and great-grandchildren Mattigan and Cian. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders would be most appreciated. Funeral service will be held April 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Church, Kelowna, BC. http://www.standrewskelowna.ca/ Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com Arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services in Kelowna BC 250-762-2299
