JACK YOUNG Jack Young passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Marie and their children, Bruce (Twyla) Vincent (Linda); and his grandchildren, Nicole (Kyle), Ashley, Marcus and great-granddaughter Emily Marie; his brother George; his sisters, Mary Ann and Linda and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was predeceased by his eldest son Michael; his mother Rita; his father John; his sister Irene; and his brother Donald. Jack was born and raised in Winnipeg. He served in the peacetime RCAF and while he was stationed in Alberta, he met and married his love, Marie. They began their married life in 1956 in Calgary, moving to Winnipeg in 1964 when Jack was employed by Bristol Aerospace. Jack was essentially a quiet man who preferred to stay in the background but always a gracious and generous person. During his retirement years he loved to plan holidays and trips visiting with family and friends, but we would no sooner arrive and there he was looking out any window or portal wishing he was at his favorite place, home. Our home was always our safe haven, full of laughter and our share of tears. You were always there Dad- Our constant centre. You filled so many roles in all our lives and everything you did was done with care and thoughtfulness for others. We love you. We miss you. With grateful thanks to the Riverview Palliative Care Centre and all their staff for their Compassionate care, especially their angels in green. A Celebration of Jacks life will take place Monday March 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, officiating Father Owen Steeves with reception to follow in the Church Hall. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My brother and I had the good fortune to grow up with the Young boys in Transcona. Mr. Young (as we called him and I did until he passed away) and Mrs. Young were those solid, quiet and kind parents you always saw at sporting events like hockey games and the like. He reminded me of my own father as I never heard him say anything disparaging about others and he always had the time to talk to you. I can still see Mr. Young at our hockey games at East End Community Club arena wearing his ascot cap. I wish, like my own father, I got to know him better. I know he was a great guy (as is Mrs. Young) because his three boys are the least pretentious guys you'd ever meet. I guess it's true when they say that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Mr. Young, you were a class act. - Posted by: Darren Skomoroh (Friend) on: Mar 27, 2017
