ALMA LYDIA BRETT
Date of Passing: Mar 20, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA LYDIA BRETT (nee MANTEI) 1928 - 2017 It is with great sadness that after a brief illness we announce the passing of our mother, Alma Lydia Brett, at the Salvation Army Golden West Centennial Lodge, on Monday, March 20, 2017. Alma will be remembered by her brother Alfred; sons, Garry and Paul; grandchildren, Christina (Sam), Mark (Karen), Marina, and Dustin (Maca) as well as great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Anatasia and Juliette. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony; daughter Eleanor; father Reinholt; mother Lydia; brothers, Edmund, Paul, Arnold and Albert, and sister Elsie. Mom was born near Brightview, Alberta and was raised on a small farm around there. Many of the attributes she learned on the farm carried through with her for the rest of her life. Despite various health issues, Mom lived an active life taking part in various sports such as cross country skiing, golf, lawn bowling, five-pin bowling and square dancing. She was a member of ANAF #283, where she enjoyed playing Cribbage and being a member of the Over 55 Club. She also enjoyed gardening, and plants were always part of Mom's life. The family would like to thank all of the staff, especially those on the fifth floor of the Salvation Army Golden West Centennial Lodge, for the compassion and care they gave our mother over the years. A private family Funeral Service will be held for Mom at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
