I listened to Sid on his talk show in the 80's and took my car to him in 2015 (I think) ..he always called me 'kid' I got a kick out of that. I was only a few years younger than him we got along very well...... do miss him......Dimitri - Posted by: Dimitri rachev (Friend) on: Sep 17, 2021

We were at the shop were so saddened to here of Sid's passing. Sid had one of those voices that you never had to ask "where are you calling from. Sir". You just had to hear him say "one to go" and you knew there was a pick up. We'll miss ya. - Posted by: Ken Hunter (owner Wpg Wheel Works) on: May 15, 2017

My Father taught at Tec Voc with Sid. On Sid's first call in show my Dad put on an accent and told him that his back wheels went faster than the front wheels when going down hill. Poor Mr. Minuk! Sid eventually found out about my Father's shenanigans and sought revenge as my Dad was napping one day. On behalf of our family our sincere condolences to Sid's family. - Posted by: Craig Kennedy (My Father taught with him.) on: Apr 10, 2017

Sid taught my father mechanics years ago, way back when he was a teacher in Tec Voc power mechanics. I personally only met him a few months ago, but he was such a sweet man. Just a couple weeks ago we sat in his body shop chatting about my dad, my vehicle etc. He gave me a sucker for my dad & asked that my dad come have a coffee & catch up. To know Sid was to love him, he was such a kind man. He'll be deeply missed & my sincerest condolences go out to Ricki & the rest of their family. ❤️ Rest in peace to a great man! Dearest family I am so grateful that I was able to listen to the broadcast of Sid’s funeral on Tuesday over the internet. It was cathartic. The tributes were awesome, especially by his grandchildren, who so lovingly called him Zayde. The last thing anyone in the family or even his many friends and acquaintences would ever have fathomed the loss of Sid so soon. Everyone thought he was indestructible. I’m still struggling with his loss, as I know everyone there in Winnipeg is and will be for quite some time. How can we ever survive without his wonderful personality, sense of humour, honesty, integrity and his movie star smile. To know him was to love him. The first time I met him when Ricki and Sid came to Vancouver to visit us and saw his jet black hair with 10/30 weight oil combed through, he reminded me of Fonzy on Happy Days before the show was ever on the air, lol. That was 50 years ago. May God rest your soul Sid. I’ll know I’m in the right place if I see him on the other side to greet me. So sad to hear of Sid's passing. Have great memories of him at TecVoc as well as when he started the Bradley Bug Centre on Main. He was a great customer of mine through all the years from his Main Street store until his Sid's Body Shop. He touched so many people as a teacher as well as a friend and businessman. Condolences to Rickie who was the light of his life, and his family. You will be missed and remembered fondly. - Posted by: Dave Fraser (Student, friend) on: Mar 29, 2017

From the moment Rickie brought Sid into the family in the 1960's , it was love at first sight. Sid had the most magnanimous heart, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for you if it was possible to do, and believe me he could achieve the impossible. Our hearts are broken and yes I know they will slowly mend with time but the world has lost one of its most humble servants. The teen-aged version of me will always remember my friend Kevin's dad. He had a constant sparkle in his eye and a funny joke to tell. A lot of my memories with Kevin revolve around SId, spending time at the garage, the CJOB studios and the cabin at Winnipeg Beach. May his memory be a blessing. - Posted by: Jonathan Glass (Friend of Family) on: Mar 29, 2017

Sid will be truly missed. An iconic winnipeg self made man. Had a true passion for life that he fulfilled with love for his family, work (which was his play) and gardening for those delicious pickles that everyone in the family was making reference too. I myself was lucky enough to enjoy more than a few of those. I was lucky enough to have known such a kind hearted man. My deepest condolences to Rickie, her children and her grandchildren. - Posted by: Marshall (Friend) on: Mar 28, 2017

My sincere condolences to the family of Sid Minuk. I met Sid back in 1960 and athough he was a few years older, he treated me like a younger brother. He hired me to work a few weekends helping him at a Texaco station on Portage Ave. Sid took me to the North End Drive in to watch Thunder Road and we ate the best roasted turkey that his mom gave us. Sid never met a stranger and thats why everyone loved him. God Bless and RIP friend. Jim Campbell Vogel Apts on Atlantic Ave. - Posted by: Ronald (Jim) Campbell (60's friend) on: Mar 28, 2017
