GEORGE A. EVANS George A. Evans passed away peacefully at Hospice in Barrie, Ontario, on March 28, 2017 at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family and dog Snoopy. George courageously fought his battle with cancer, hardly slowing down, with true dignity. George was born, raised and educated in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Eva (nee Johnston) Evans, and two sisters Anita (Jake) Smiley and Doreen (Edward) Murray. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane (nee Forsyth), three daughters Kim (Stephen) Milak, Katherine (Craig) Pearson and Karen (Steve) Livesey, and three grandchildren Alexandra and Ethan Milak, and Natasha Pearson. He will be sorrowfully missed by many cousins, nephews and nieces in Manitoba and Ontario. George worked for CN Rail for nearly 40 years, ending his career as Head of Signal Maintenance from Toronto to Armstrong Ontario. After retiring in 1993, George started his own business maintaining signals for the Contractor that looked after the Signals in Barrie, Ontario for the next 15 years. Over the years, George kept in contact with many of his school friends, and Railway co-workers. The family thanks Dr. Melissa Witty for her compassion and care throughout the years.
