Date of Passing: Mar 25, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNANCY RHODA MOORHOUSE Nancy Moorhouse passed away peacefully on March 25, 2017 at the age of 64 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Nancy and her family moved to the Maritimes in 2007. She made many happy memories in both of her hometowns. An adoring mother and committed wife, Nancy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Garry Hastings, and her beloved children, Katie and Michael. She is also survived by her mother, Betty; sister, Kathy (Dave); brother, Ted (Diane); brothers-in-law, Pat (Lisa) and Tim (Donna); sister-in-law, Barbara-Daune; nephews, Trevor (Jacqueline), Stephen, and Lee; and nieces, Tiffany (Glenn), Sasha (Graham), Lana, Avery, Sarah, and Andrea; aunt and uncle Billie and Paul, as well as many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her father, Frank; aunt and uncle, Rhoda and Stewart; cousin, John; mother-in-law, Barbara, and father-in-law, Stephen. She was also predeceased by her grandparents, including grandmother Donna Baker, with whom she shared a special relationship. Above all else, Nancy loved being a mother. Her children were her pride and joy. There are not enough words to adequately describe the love she had for them. She enjoyed every moment with her children, and joyfully accepted any and every opportunity to spend time with them. She was their greatest champion and staunchest supporter. She considered her children to represent the best of her. She was so proud of their individual character and inner strength. She regarded her children with the highest respect and admiration, which was, and is, fully reciprocated. Nancy was a beautiful person, with a pure heart and a wise soul. Her smile and laughter lit up every room she entered. She was warm, kind, caring, and gentle, with a quick and clever sense of humour. She was a loyal and trusted friend. She had a deep sense of empathy for others. She was gracious, polite, and respectful. She was a problem solver and an exceptional communicator. She handled life's challenges with grace, dignity, and positivity - always looking for lessons and opportunities to grow as a person. She was truly an extraordinary human being. Nancy's legacy is one of unconditional love, selflessness, and compassion. She will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. We were in the presence of an angel and we are so grateful for the time that we had with her on Earth. A private graveside service will be held in Halifax at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, or a charity of one's choice.

I have many fond memories of Nancy during our early morning walks through all Seasons for a number of years while she resided in Norman Park. She was always so kind and gentle and I thoroughly enjoyed our times together, our chats and our walks. My condolences to the family as she will be greatly missed.
