Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGUERITE HAMMETT (nee ANEMA) November 4, 1929 March 25, 2017 On Saturday, March 25, 2017, Marguerite Hammett peacefully died at West Park Manor Personal Care Home, where she resided the last six of her 12 years living with Alzheimer's. Remaining to cherish Marguerite's memory are her devoted husband John. As high school sweethearts who rode horseback together and became engaged in St. Vital Park, John and Marguerite celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 21, 2016. Marguerite lived 63 years in Charleswood and lovingly called the family's two homes Charboine and Chargrove. Memories of Marguerite are held dearly by daughters, Marlene (Craig) Thiessen and Laurie (Rick) Douglas; son Craig (Shelley); grandchildren, John (Jill and family), Melena (Larry), Sean (Unity and family), Devin and Taylor; brother Brian (Edith) Anema as well as sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lynn Francis, Margaret Oliver and Jean Gregory. She was predeceased by her father, Klaas; uncle Ysbrand; mother Marie (Anema) Voetberg; brother Peter and granddaughter Jayne Douglas. Marguerite is a cherished wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who engrained into us the love of gardening, pets, nature and family values. Marguerite was active in the Young Peoples Union St. Vital United Church, choirs at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church and St. Mary's Anglican Church in Charleswood (the latter with her daughters) and a past president during her 40 plus year membership with Ganderette's Blue Goose Manitoba Pond. Early careers were at Broadway Florists, Bank of Montreal Head Office, MTS cashier, Tupperware sales, Kennel Club of Manitoba and a breeder of Great Danes. Marguerite enjoyed camping at Lot 1 Spruce Woods, the Redboine Boating Club, Charleswood Cross-Country Skiing Club and touring Canada and USA by motor home. Interment will be held in our chosen Columbarium in St. Vital Cemetery. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the staff at West Park Manor for their genuine compassion and tender care of Marguerite. Our condolences on your loss John, Marlene, Laurie and Craig. Your wife/mother was a wonderful person and I missed her horribly when she was no longer able to accompany John to our monthly Retiree Club breakfasts. - Posted by: Bill Coe (Friend) on: Apr 01, 2017
