A longtime resident of St. Vital, Dad worked at Canada Packers for 40 years retiring in 1983. Dad married Mabel (Leach) in 1948 and had three daughters, Sharen, Brenda, and Doreen. Mom passed away in 1980 and Dad remarried in 1982 to Sylvia (Johnson) and with her daughter Karen, joined the family. Dad was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth, brothers Tom and David, sisters Maria and Sarah, and both wives Mabel and Sylvia. The family wishes to thank the hospital staff on 4B Medicine, Dr. Kvern, Dr. Waye, and Dr. Cox, also Dr. Hussein who helped Dad live another four years after his heart attack. 98 years is a very long time, and, considering it was from 1918 until 2017, the things you saw and the changes you witness in society were amazing. From cars to tvs, to the long journey over to Canada to witnessing how quickly we can shift country to country nowadays, your life was full of wonders. A man of few words you made a great listener though selective at times (I get it - you had 4 daughters after all haha). Nozomi and Shouma are having a hard time but still they understand you are healthy again in heaven. We will miss you Grandpa McFetridge. Ireland is carrying a special meaning in our lives these days... - Posted by: Ryan Colyer & Family (Grandson & great-grandchildren) on: Apr 05, 2017

Oh Bert -- I will miss our daily chats-- being called sweetie face and asking you what's going on! I will miss having a candy - usually a salt water taffy thrown at me over the counter. I will miss teasing you and seeing you blush. You would truly make my day -One of the most generous and the nicest people I have the privelege of knowing. - Posted by: sheila selluski (Front Desk at Dakota House) on: Apr 04, 2017
