MARGARET MURCHISON On Sunday, April 2, 2017, Margaret passed away peacefully. She was surrounded in her last days by her loving family: husband of 44 years, Dana; children, Jeff (Deanne) and Shannon (John); and five amazing grandchildren, Hudson, Emery, Jaime, Sydney and Avery. Mom received countless messages of support from her many friends and colleagues over the past week. We are all so thankful for the outpouring of love and are comforted by the fact that she had so many people in her life that she loved so dearly. Margaret was a generous soul and always made time for friends and family. Mom always put the needs of others before herself. Whether painting with the girls, meeting friends for lunch or coffee, Margaret always looked forward to spending time with the people she loved. Art and music were two of Mom's passions. She beamed with pride and joy watching her grandkids at many school concerts choir performances and many hockey, soccer and ringette games over the years. She was so happy spending time in her beautiful yard in the summer with her beloved Eddie. Her pets were very important to her and always treated like another member of the family. Our family is so thankful for the incredible care Mom received in her last days in the ICU at Grace Hospital. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m., at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to a charity of your choice. seasonsfunerals.ca

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I was very shocked to hear of Marg's passing. She was a beautiful light in a world of uncertainty. I have good memories of Marg and I playing partners for "Pictionary" at the Cones house near Calgary. We always had plenty of laughs. The world is missing a lovely lady. My sympathies to Dana and the whole family. Hold on to the memories. - Posted by: Rita Johnson (Friend) on: May 21, 2017

  • Margie brightened every room she was in, she was fun, full of life, and truly loved people. She had a special gift with children and especially teenagers. When we were kids and traveled to Winnipeg for summer vacations to visit the family, Margie would always drive us around to pools and malls (which she loved) to keep us amused - while telling non-stop stories. We will cherish the many memories that we hold close to our hearts. Her laughter will always be missed. Our deepest condolences to Dana, Jeff, Shannon, Bill and families. - Posted by: Gerry and Janet (Cousin) on: Apr 09, 2017

  • Such sad news. Marg. replaced me when I left for a years leave-of-absence from George Waters Middle School. When I returned, she remained and I was blessed with working along side of her. I soon found why everyone loved her. Marg. was always positive and loved to laugh. Everything she did, she did well. She didn't just create a monthly calendar, she created a work of art that the students looked forward to seeing each month. Her contributions to Santa's Workshop was so much appreciated by the students. In her small-group instructions the students knew they were safe and loved and learning happened. While working together we shared many stories of our children and grandchildren. I will miss not having her at the other end of my Facebook page "liking" my postings and teasing me about my updates. Rest well my friend. - Posted by: Joanne (Noble) Swain (co-worker) on: Apr 08, 2017

  • Dana,Jeff, and Shannon, having worked alongside Margaret, at D.W.Friesens,I almost feel like I knew you all a bit.Margaret spoke so nicely about her family, she was so proud of you. When she walked in, the room lit up.We shared tons of jokes and stories. Her's were always funny with lots of hand movements and actions. We lost touch when you moved to Calgary, but I thought of her often. So sad when I read the paper with her in it. She will be watching over you and your family.I teased her, she was like a little munchkin. Beverley Bettens - Posted by: Beverley Bettens (Co-Worker) on: Apr 06, 2017

  • RIP my beautiful cousin. I'll miss you so much, our visits, our chats, and the "Margaret" stories that made me laugh until I cried. I will miss your amazing spirit. We shared so many good times over the years, and some tears too. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Love you to the moon and back. To Dana, Jeff, Shannon, and the rest of her family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Marg was a very special person...generous, warm and caring. I know how much you loved her and how much she'll be missed, but the love she had for each of you will live in your hearts forever. - Posted by: Willie Johnson ( Cousin) on: Apr 06, 2017

  • To my beautiful cousin Margaret, you took a little piece of my heart with you. I will always remember your years in Calgary like it was yesterday, the family dinners and get togethers, a certain dog and a certain cake (smile). I will miss you with all my heart. To Dana, Jeff and Shannon. My sincerest condolences to all of you. In the coming weeks, remember her healthy and whole and happy. Take care of yourselves and each other. xox - Posted by: Deb Cones () on: Apr 06, 2017

  • Years ago when our girls were in the Winnipeg Youth Chorus, I had the privilege of being a choir mom along side Margaret. We shared many laughs at meetings and choir nights but the best times were camp and those long bus trips!!! Margaret always had a smile and a hug for her friends and she left her family far too soon. She will be missed. Love ya! - Posted by: Brenda Anderson ("old" friend) on: Apr 05, 2017
